So last week after waiting 5 weeks for my tonneau cover that should have been on my truck when I picked it up they called me to tell me they finally had the cover in. So I made an appointment for today to get it installed. They said it would take 2 hours so I scheduled my day around taking 3 1/2 hours for this since they are like 35 minutes from my house.

When I get their they tell me that this isn't the kind of thing they do while the customer waits since it take 4 hours or more !!

I could build a cover in less time. .

After going back and forth with them about other issues I have already had with their service department and having to make two trip to them for stuff they didn't get right the first time. They told me that I was being unreasonable by requesting that they refund for the parts and install instead of rescheduling for another day where I could either take a rental or wait at least four hours for them to install it.

Needless to say I am never going back there again. They are going to credit the costs back to the bank against my loan since they can't give me a check for it. .

If they had not lied to me in the first place and told me that it would take that amount of time I could have scheduled my day around this no problem. I am normally very reasonable when I comes to having work done since I know they don't have guys sitting around waiting for me to show up but I have just had it with all these businesses out that and their lack of service.

I work hard for my money so when I pay for a product and or service I expect real service...

Oh well just had to rant.

Bill, sorry to hear. Bet you could get the same tonneau from Mopar4less.com and install same yourself, can't see how it would take more than 30 minutes tops. I had a Mopar tonneau on my truck for a short time. I removed it as I needed room for the toolbox, but it was a nice set up.

Hey Bill,

I have a mopar fiberglass cover. It only takes about 30 minuites to install (its alot easier if you have some help).

The cover has 6 c-clamps and one locking bar on the tail gate.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me.

Thanks for the info guys.

At this point I am going to hold off on a cover till their credit shows up on my loan statement. I figure that could take up to two month the way they work things.

The dealer is Redwood City Dodge.

Check out.....

Extang if you are interested in a Tonneau cover. Do a search on Extang either on here (when they re-enable it) or on your Internet Search engine. I paid 229. 00 for the 8' cover and put it on myself in about 2 hrs, only because I was being very careful to make sure that the rails lined up where I wanted them. The rails clamp to the bed, no drilling or screws, and the cover is weather-tight. I forget where I got it, but the name is synonomous with covers. Good luck... ... .

I have a name for these so called five star dealerships. I have yet to find one with that designation that was fair and reasonable as evidenced by my experience with one in Cottage Grove, OR. I now call them "5 Turkey Dealerships.

Bill, when I bought my truck it didn't have leather and I wanted it. The salesman had the leather added for $1000. 00 and I just needed to make an appointment with the service dept. After thinking this though I decided not to have the leather installed after all. I called the salesman and told him and the dealership (oops stealership) cut me a check for $1000. 00. They didn't have to credit my account. If you want your cash to buy elsewhere tell them... Hope this helps... Phil

Sixpack,

Thanks for the info.

I would rather have them credit it to the loan. Less for me to pay off. :)

I am going to hold off on the cover for now I think.

I bought my (ordered) my truck from Crown. Fleet manager was great. Service? The only time I used their service department was when my truck arrived from the factory and they prepped and "inspected" it:rolleyes: I had almost no boost for the first year! Never knew how much there should be, never driven one. BUT, considering I had the 1st H. O. 6spd from the St. Louis plant, I really believed it should be stronger. I took it in to the Dealer in Long Beach (since we have Dieselfest there) for an unrelated problem. The Tech took it out for a test drive and said for an H. O. it was the biggest pig he had ever driven! He located a lower boot and showed me where it hadn't been completely installed over the flange (from St' Louis) (and checked and test driven by Crown). He fixed it, and showed me the inspection points, lectured me about the clamps and said this time you do the test drive. :--) :D  I never had more than 3 or 4 lbs of boost prior to this. Can you imagine my dismay?? It was like having all the Bombs done at once by comparison. Can you imagine how disgusted I was with Crown Dodges Service Department!!!

Take it to Glenn Thomas Dodge in Long Beach. Tell them the TDR sent ya' !!!
