A friend and I installed the 89% TC, VB, and Update Kit over our holiday break. And the replacement cooler line with the temp sensor port.

Everything went very good; that is until I took it out for the 1st test drive. I could not up-shift out of 1st. So I called Bill (several times) and he had me test many things. Main problem was I did not have governor pressure at any time. After a very long day, we called it quits until the next day to talk with Bill again as it was very late in the next morning of day 2.

So now it’s day 2 and I call Bill with updated status. He tells me to take the transmission down, and bring it up to him. He suspects a torn gasket, but would like to go through it to make sure. Plus he does not want me to have problems down the road.

Due to a busy morning and afternoon on day 2 with family events, my friend and I waited until evening of day 2 to remove transmission from truck.

Day 3… We drove up to Canada, about 2 ½ hour drive. I had to return the cores anyway. Bill tore it all down and could not identify the problem that caused the lack of governor pressure. So at that point, he put it all back together and sent us back to install and test drive. Okay, what if it doesn’t work again? Bill’s response…”If it still doesn’t work, I’ll come on down there and help you out”. Really? Now that is more than just regular “customer service”. Not only did Bill give me his home number and tell me to call with any issues or questions at any time, he also spent time going through my transmission when there was no expectation nor any responsibility on his part. And to top it all off, offered to drive down to help us out if we still had problems.

Okay, we get back to my friends place and set a 2 hour goal to install transmission and get truck running. No lift, front end up on jack stands, and we are on crawlers. Yes we did it in under 2 hours. We were happy with that.

I take it out for a test drive crossing my fingers. It shifts!!! Finally!!! And of course drives real good now.

So what caused the problems? No governor pressure. But why? Bill told us nothing we did caused a problem that would result in no governor pressure.

Must have just needed the transmission guru’s hands in it.

Thanks Bill!

Thanks to the rest of DTT’s family… Shanti, Stefan, Darrin, Vinnie and Crystal.

And of course thanks to Kevin!

What’s next? I still need to install and adjust the DTT Smart Controller. Hopefully this weekend.

Hey Scott, I'm glad to hear your transmission upgrade project turned out ok after all.

As you explained in your post, that's the kind of legendary customer service DTT customers receive. Peace of mind knowing you are dealing with a transmission expert who really cares about total customer satisfaction after the sale..... simply AWESOME!
