I'm considering upgrading the stock injectors in my 95' 5sp 3500 4x4 mainly for driveability. The truck has 184k miles with some mild upgrades such as a #5 plate, straight exhaust, and an AFE intake. I have killed the KDP and the truck is running great. Just looking for a little more power : ) I sold my 03' 6sp HO 3500 with a TST powermax setup and want this 12v to perform close to what my 03' did on horsepower setting 3 and torque setting 3. Don't see how I could ever need more power than that. I primarily drive this truck unloaded but on occasion do have a heavy load on it. I don't really feel like I need more fuel but would like to smooth out the way the truck runs and accelerates. I've read some posts cc'ing running 370 injectors on the smaller 180pumps. Issues like shuddering, etc... Which injectors do you guys feel would be best for my truck and what it's used for? Will a set of 215hp stock injectors be a nice upgrade from the stock injectors? Or should I just splurge for a set of larger Bosch injectors? I'm mainly concerned about driveablity... Would I notice a difference from the stock 180's vs. the 215's?? Thx in advance. . Scott

I just wanted to say that I run 370's (supposedly), and they run fine with a tuned up 180 pump. They aren't great for fuel mileage, though.

I would probably have some 215 nozzles put on your bodies and give that a shot. For the time being, and while your waiting for the nozzles to come in, do a little research on torque plates for your governor.

Your 95 will either have a 175 pump (5 speed) or a 160 pump (auto) unless it was switched out.

I can not comment about 215 injectors, but have run both 300's and 370's w/a 160 pump. The 370's were too hot for me w/a stock turbo. Thats why I now have the dodgezilla.

Now, the 300's worked well for me w/the stock turbo. I dyno'd 270 hp and 755 tq with them.

Tmaas. . Is there a problem with running the #5 plate with my setup? I had a #6 in it and the EGTs wouldn't even touch 1000*. So I switched to the #5. I swear the #6 plate full forward ran better than the #5 slid full forward!!

EE. . My truck is a manual.

PorterS if you could have your truck down for a few days, take out your injectors and send them to Dynomite Diesel to have them redone on their extrude hone machine. A better idea is a set of low mile 215s which you could send in for modification because 180k mile injectors will be getting "tired. " From everything I've read people are very pleased with DDP's injectors. Do a search to read about them here on TDR. http://www.dynomitediesel.com/

What are the symptoms of worn injectors? I'm getting alot of smoke down low (could be AFC) and kinda rough idle. Just seems alot rougher than the 97' I had but that truck didn't have 185k on it either.

A symptom of injectors needing work would be a missing engine. Smoke at lower rpms (depending upon if the engine has a load on it or not) could be nozzles that need attention, or it could mean something with the engine itself has an issue. What kind of smoke is it, does it do it in neutral or drive, and when does it quit?

Trever, it only smokes heavy if I want it to under load. All black smoke : ) It doesn't do any white or blue smoking. . Just seems that it idles a little rougher than my 97' did. I believe at some point in the past the injectors have been worked over. I can tell someone has had them out since the paint has been knocked off the fuel lines at each injector. Thx Scott

Don't go with 300's or 370's. The 300's aren't worth the time of day, about 20-30 HP gain for $300. I don't really care for mine, marine injectors stink and they make EGT's sky-rocket. Save that $300 and go with DDP stage 2 or 3's. 2's are like 50 HP, and 3's are like 100 HP but EGT's might not stay under control with the stock turbo with a 5 plate and stage 3 injectors. It probably would be OK with stage 2's.

You have a 175 pump like me so you might want to look into upgrading the stock tiny 131 delivery valves to atleast 181's. The 131's is what causes the engine to shutter with the marine injectors, mine shutters pretty good with light throttle low RPM. Upper RPM's no problem or heavy low throttle no shuttering but lots of smoke!
