Doesn't sound like a good record for the ED.
My Son's 2015 ED with 26K miles died. A low oil pressure warning was quickly followed by rotating mass failure and a hole in the side of the block. The newly extended warranty is covering a new engine.
What a shame, that 5.0 CTD V8 is sure looking to be a loss for Ram. The ED has a poor reputation now, I wonder what the newest version did to upgrade durability?
Curious that this site covers this platform but not the Nissan Titan Cummins.

There are many many negative reviews on the 5.0L CTD also. In fact, it went over so poorly that you cannot get that engine on a 2020 Nissan Titan XD. I looked at them.
I liken it to a service department just learning a new motor, kinda of like what your taking about Don, but more on the service floor level, rather than management. If Dodge would have stayed with the 5.0 Cummins, there would have been a better effort to figure out the new motor issues. Not that they don't exsist, I have not personaly heard of any issues, and I make it a point to talk to owners of the 5.0 CTD. That motor still may be around in another application in the future. My initial thoughts as to why there where so many negative reviews probably has something to do with Nissan's typical slow response time to customer problems as well as not having an existing relationship with Cummins to be able to quickly and adequately resolve engineering and programming problems. Just my hunch.
Guess TC really did take off. No hide nor hair![]()
