Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Thermostat ?

I just got my truck two weeks ago, and I have been all over my truck today. It looks like the timing case has been replaced on this. It is definitely not original equipment. It has a new gasket between it and the block, silicone on the case cover and it is aluminum colored, not the gray paint of the block.

Is there a part number I can find on the case that would tell me whether or not this is a newer case that does not need a kdp fix?

I hope that kdp is already taken care of. I can then spend money on more exciting things.

You will not find a part number on the outside of the gear housing, but there will be a cast in part number on the inside. You'll have to pull the cover to see it.

Since the part # is not visible if I were you I would go ahead and jig or tab it. Could be someone procured a used old style gear case and cleaned it up real good before installing it. Don't be a betting man here, just get the kdp neutered.

No bets here. Ill pull the cover and see what is in there. I got a long weekend coming up. I'll do that along with a valve adjustment then.

Thanks for the replies.
