one of the guys I work with had the kdp come through the front for about 1700 bucks worth. the question is , is Cummings still saying it's not a defect and will not help any one with this continuing problem or any forth coming of a factory defect?

Its a shame that Cummins left a wart on this beauty of an engine. Not just one year,but 5 or more years. Where was quality control ???Its a real shame they wont do what is right for the "very few " :rolleyes: that get bit by the KDP. It is a factory defect ,no ifs ,ands,or buts. They probably dont mind making alot of money from all the gear covers,cam gears and shop time they get doing the repairs. And as long as they sell all of the engines they can make ,who cares? OK I'm finished and I still love my truck with all of its problems. :p

I agree 100% about the wart and loving my truck . the truck I'm taking about with the kdp problem gets 27mpg and has been a good one since 94 but a factory defect that keeps jumping up and they (Cummings) keeps ignoring makes you wonder same for the v44 pump.

From what I have read Cummins takes care of the problem for all applications except Dodge. Dodge bought the engines with no warrantee at all except that all the parts are there I guess. Anyway, since the engines were purchased with no warrantee it's Dodge's problem not Cummins. Dodge bought them this way to save a buck or two.

i don't get it... ...

cummins knows there is a problem. put out a fix.

and some are still whining cause they just haven't gotten around to fix it.

got paid

i got some money from cummins from when my kdp went. i got 45% of the bill. better than nothing. you need to get a hold of the right fellow at cummins. i can't tell you his name but he is a rep for cummins to dodge. my truck had 150,000 miles when the pin came out.

The 99s are also suspect to puke out the KDP. From what I can gather,it is not clear when all of the old style gear covers were used up. Sometime in 99??Who knows???Better to be safe than sorry. :{
