I've done a search on this topic and I'm aware of the comments about the rear tail lights, and cleaning them, but I wanted to ask those of you that have had this problem if it happens the way mine does.

When I get in the truck and turn the ignition on (to warm up the grid heaters) I get the "lamp out" light on the dash. If I cycle the headlight switch slowly to "on" and back "off" the light will go out. Is this what is happening with those that have had this problem, or does the "lamp out" light stay lit even if you do cycle the lamp switch?

I own 3 trucks... . there is no pattern to what turns on the lamp out circuit other than the computer either sees more current flow or less current flow through a circuit... this can be driven by low voltage like when the grid heater is running or for that mater almost any time based on what we've seen.....

As I remember this is reset by a number of restarts of the engine(ecm)..... After the problem is fixed..... the light will finally go out..... I didn't pay attention because we have the lights on all the time... and allow the computer to shut down excess power drain after we've walked away... . Its a lights on for safety issue that I have... .

I know I didn't answer your question, but yes the light goes out.....

Jim... Thanks for the answer.

I'm going to remove the bulbs and go that direction, but I just wondered if anyone else was getting the same type of malfunction. I also have the Brite Box with Fogzilla on my truck and I wondered if this was causing a computer problem... ;)

That's strange. When my headlight bulbs went out (not at the same time thankfully) and I replaced the bulbs, the first cycle of the key the indicator went out on mine and hasn't come back.
