Pulling Coal Bank pass between Durango and Silverton, CO my truck missed a couple of times. The next day while pulling Monarch Pass it missed again. The next morning I decided to change the fuel filter. The truck had never ever missed a single time so I knew something was wrong.

Did the normal thing, bumped the starter a couple of times to fill the fuel filter. The engine would not start. The lift pump did not sound right at all. I had 5 gallons of clean fuel so I took a styrofoam cup and filled the fuel filter canister full of fuel.

Finally got it started and started looking for a Dodge dealer. Drove about 15 miles into Pueblo Dodge, Co. When they found out I was traveling they took me right into their shop. They also informed me that the lift pump was covered under warranty (80,000 miles) and had me on the road again in less than half the expected time. I can not say enough good things about Pueblo Dodge in Colorado. They treated me far beyond my expectations.

I don't know how many days I ran with a bad lift pump. Just hope I did not stress the injection pump.

Now my fuel sending unit has gone bad. Ran out of fuel with 1/4 tank showing on the guage.

Bobby,

Welcome to the club! My first pump failure exhibited symptoms same as yours.

Now I've been inflicted with the tank sending unit virus as well. First time I ran out at 1/8 tank. Then I ran out at 1/4 tank. I wonder what the fix for THIS is?
