Roller tip lifters in the Cummins?

I purchased a 2001. 5 2500 QC LWB Auto SLE several months ago. My previous truck was a 1996 F250 Powerstroke 5 spd with which I had numerous problems including (but not limited to);

New rotors, hubs, 2 u-joints, 4 ball joints, both rear leaf springs, fuel pre-heater, glow plugs, glow plug relay, 2 injectors, sagged front leaf springs (from the weight of the engine), flaking paint on the fender and a 5 spd that kept popping out of 5th gear on its own. This truck never ran right, it hesitated, wouldn't run when it was cold, was low on power and smoked severely after compression breaking. This having been said, I do believe that any of the big 3 can and do make lemons so I won't condemn ford forever based on this one truck, but...

I didn't seriously consider the Chevy. They only had one in town and wanted $10,000 more for it than I paid for my Ram, plus I don't think much of the new Duramax. Seems to me that if I want a higher revving, quiet, lightweight engine that doesn't get great mileage and has more horsepower than torque (comparitively speaking), I would just get a big gas motor! I also think aluminum heads are a bad idea (I used to be in the auto parts business)

Anyway, I am extremely happy with my new truck. It has 11,000 mi on it now and has had no real problems (did have the clock spring go). If I have any complaints they are fairly minor; steering is not exactly precise, paint seems to scratch fairly easy and the stock headlights are not as bright as the ford. I love driving this truck and it seems to get stronger by the day. I own a construction company and have a small fleet. Most are gassers, but we do have a chevy 6. 5TD with 130,000 mi. (no problems) and one 2001 F350 powerstroke auto. The powerstroke had its glowplug controller replaced last week with approximately 9,000 mi on it.

It will be fun to compare the performance and costs of these two trucks over time.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, I'll try to be less long-winded in the future!

p. s. how do you enter your truck description, etc? Thanks

to make a "signature" click the lil blue button under the banner ad that says "user cp". Then click "Edit Profile", in there you will find a box to type in that says signature. Fill that in and hit submit.

Need more help just ask... .

Welcome to the TDR. To add your signature, press the USER CP button at the top of the page, and then select edit profile. Long posts are OK, they give us something to do when we're not driving.

Thanks Guys! Hope this works.

Klenger, your right! I'm pretty sure I can dig up an excuse to drive somewhere right away. Driving this thing seems to be addictive, but I guess you are already aware of this!!:p

Thanks Kat

Thank you Mr KatDiesel. I wondered how to put a vehicle description on the bottom of a post. Is there an instruction manual for this site or do you just know about computers like the slick salesman says at Comp USA. Is that a 4884 in your picture box? UP all the way!!!!!!!!!
