Another Phoenix CTD STOLEN...

YOU WARNED ME... . I DIDN'T LISTEN. I was going to buy a club or an autolock or one of those cheesy anti-theft devices but I didn't get around to it YET. Busy weekend trying to find a place to live and organizing my GF moving out from NJ... . so today was my first day of work. 9am-5:30pm, went out for lunch with my new boss and when I came back from lunch it was still there, 5:30pm... IT'S GONE. And the office complex didn't tow me... .

I have $4500 into that truck not counting my prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses that these thugs couldn't even have a use for. I don't even know if I should hope they never find it or do find it... if they find it it'll probably have a blown transmission, blown turbo and all the wiring ripped out from my nice radios and all the other crap I worked so hard for... Me and charlie anderson from Greasel.com were about to do a custom veg oil conversion on it too... I just registered this truck on Saturday... if you see this truck, call the police please.

That's the worst news I've heard all day. What is wrong with these people??

I hope they find your truck and return it to you ASAP.

May son had a cheap Huffy bicycle that was a spare that friends rode when they came over. It was parked in the side of the house the other night and someone stole it. I can't stop thinking why?? The bike wasn't worth $10.

God help the person if I catch them.

Bummer. Did your truck have the Dodge factory security system in it? Just curious if they work. I ordered mine with the security system, and it seems like it would be hard to start it w/o the chipped key.

What sucks is living here on the west coast. Mexico is a hop skip and a jump. Many stolen vehicles end up on cargo ships headed for Russia (and lots of other countries) and don't forget the thousands of chop shops here in California. And people wonder why insurance rates are so high out here... .

No factory security whatsoever.

I had heard about all the rumours of Phoenix trucks getting stolen at work so I was going to hack up a kill switch and install a club beforer my first day... . but I just didn't have time this weekend. IRonic huh... Honestly I hope they don't find it, because I'm afraid to see what they did to my truck.

Insurance is going to be thrilled... . I've had this policy for about 3 days.....

It makes me feel a little uncomfortable that there were a lotof personal documents in the car even though I'm sure nobody who stole my truck cares... ...

Best anti theft device is perhaps the simplelist. That is a hidden switch wired into the clutch switch or fuel selenoid circuit or somewhere like that.

We just saw that truck run on the dyno last month at Carlisle, too!

As a person who has had TWO (2) vehicles stolen in the last 10 years, I know exactly what you are going through.

Tell us again, why did you move to Phoenix?

Seriously, hope you get it back in one piece - if not - NEW TRUCK time.

Scott

My dad and I were discussing this the other day, that most of these thug punks, would pass on our vehicles, because most of them can't drive a stick shift. Doing a quick informal survey at work, most of the people have autos, and a lot of them admitted they can't drive a stick. Hope this works out for you, whatever way you want it to. It sucks you can't just shoot them for taking what isn't theirs. And, yes, I would.

poop that sucks... i guess i know what my sunday project is going to be this comming weekend... rigging up a starter disable circuit with a hidden switch

Haha Scott, moved out here to get away, I love NJ but needed a new start. It's going pretty well other than this! I have to admit, I'm already spec'ing out 04 6spd HO's. I love my truck but can't imagine what it'd feel like knowing someone probably abused the crap out of it and who knows what else... ? Thanks for all the support guys.

That happened to my sister when we were really young, somebody stole her not so great "BMX" style bike. My older brother happened to be up by a neighbors house and saw my sisters bike, found the kid at his house, kicked the **** out of him and came home with the bike. He also gave him the option of either come to my folks house and split and stack 4 cords of wood or get the police called..... he chose the wood. Ah, sweet justice.

If "los coyotes" are using it to smuggle "los ilegalos", you will probably eventually get a call from the Border Patrol stating they found your vehicle.

Not that you'd WANT it back at that point. Man, I know how I felt when I was a victim of car theft - like someone bent me over, and well, never mind..... :-{}

That bites!

As an insurance Agent, my advise is to push the company to replace it ASAP. They will probably want to wait about 2 weeks before they offer to pay you. If you wait too long, the thing will probably show up... if it were mine, at that point I wouldn''t want it after some idiots beat the snot out of it for a month and then dumped it. Also, you should be able to claim for all of your posessions (glasses etc) on your home insurance policy as "personal items that are temporarily removed". Finally, make sure that they don't try and give you the "actual cash value" as you want the "replacement cost value" and if they claim you didn't have replacement cost coverage on your policy, demand to know why not and make them pay for the difference under their errors and omissions coverage.

The policy on the contract is an actual cash value not replacement value :( Also I didn't get an aftermarket goodies policy, so they will pay me only $1000 for my $5000 in mods. And... I have to wait for 30 days according to the policy. I have a GAP policy so my loan will be paid off but I probably won't get a dime more. After 3-5 days, you're right, I don't think I want it back.

Hummmmmmmmmmm.

Is the car theft average that much higher in Phoenix? Two friends of mine from up here are going to tech school down there. They live in a gated apartment complex in a decent neighborhood. They have been down there just shy of a year, and both have had their trucks stolen. They found the one all thrashed out in the desert, but the didn't find the other one. It was a crew cab chevy with 40" tires, don't know where they hid it but it's gone.

Sorry about your luck...

Patrick Campbell, Sorry to hear about Your truck. Unfortunately, this area has a very serious problem with auto theft. I will definately keep my eyes open for your truck. Hope everything works out well for You. Maybe if more of these guys were found with a bullet in them the word would get out that the price for stealing vehicles is too high. I know this sounds harsh but, always having to worry whether your vehicle is going to be where you left it, really sucks. Once again, Good Luck! Joe.

Phoenix is now the 5th largest city in the US... and yes, last poll I saw had Phoenix right up there at the top of the theft list. I had a Suburban stolen and found 2 weeks later after the perps couldn't get the locking gas cap off and abandoned it a a Circle K gas pump. funny thing was that the fuel key was in the glove box but the idots apparently dumped everything that was in the truck.

Does anyone know where I could find statistics regarding what configuration of trucks are stolen most? IE... . Stick vs Auto, SRW vs DRW, 1500 vs 2500 vs 3500, gas vs diesel... ?

I bought two autolocks today for our trucks. I tried it out on my CTD already, and can't even start the engine with the key when it is in place. Will try the other one on the wife's Tundra when she gets home.

It would really crimp my work if my truck dissapeared right before we move to start a new contract. I have yet to see a rental car that can pull a 17K fiver!
