I just had my second right side rear axle seal installed under warr. For what it's worth the dealer said it was split.

Any ideas about what's going on here? internal pressure,

faulty install,

shaft damage,

seating area rough.

from what I have seen the seat is not the best and the axle has some end play.

the seals are thin and the ONLY thing that is stopping the oil from exiting the housing.

they need to make a collar or a deflecter inside the housing or incorporated in to the seal to divert the oil back in.

Years ago!!!! On my old 75 3/4 ton dodge had problems with seals that leaked so bad ruined several sets of brake shoes. Once out of warranty they started to leak I changed them myself. What I found was there is a ridge inside the axle housing and if you press seal all the way end until it contacted the ridge which is recessed maybe 1/6" to 1/8" as I recall I never had the problem again. Dealer would press the seal in flush with axle house and after time it would work itself sideways then start leaking. Is this the problem with newer trucks? Have no idea never have looked. Just a thought for everyone.
