I disconnected all My electronic tail gate latches, Immediately after purchase. I hate um, Their should be in the menu option to defeat Tail gate latch.

Really, that latch is going to stop someone? The savages just cut the cover or pry open the topper gate. Its not like the cab were if you break window or open the door the alarm is tripped.

Found this issue out the hard way about 8 months ago.....my tailgate sprang open on three occasions before I figured out that the issue was not me failing to shut it properly and instead, was a lemon of a tailgate locking mechanism. The 3rd time I lost a piece of metal that I was hauling out of the back of the bed....lucky I was going slow on a side street AND no one was tailgating me.

The tailgate is standing in a corner of the shed.
