Installed my FASS system two weeks ago. My obervations are as follows:

Install was a bit confusing (I might be the problem), as mentioned before on this forum, the instructions (mainly the pictures), could be beefed up a bit.

I ended up adding hose clamps to all the barbed fitting to hose connections (I wasn't able to fully insert the hoses on the barbs, even after oiling). and needed to by about 3 more feet of fuel hose (due to the way I routed the hose). I routed the hose using 3/4 inch hose to cover when the hose make contact with the frame to prevent abrading. I did the install myself, and lifting the pump unit while trying to insert the mounting bolts was a bit awkward, this unit is heavy.

I T'ed (sp. ?) in my existing westach gauge sender near the input to the vp and am measuring a solid 17 psi (my FASS unit was originally shipped with a 10 psi regulating spring, and I was promptly shipped out (thans to Brad E. ) the 17 psi spring, installation of the spring on the return line fitting was a snap). My pressure is a nice 17 psi on the westach which typically measures a couple of pounds less than my mechanical gauge. At full throttle the pressure never drops below 15 psi (now thinking about getting a new 30 lb sender and gauge, this is a problem I like).

The pump unit does wine a bit, but that's ok with me. I notice it at idle when stopped but once underway you can't hear it over the engine noise (K/N instake with no turbo ring silencer). I've had people next to me at a stop light notice the noise and look.

Over all I'm happy with the unit's 17-18 psi pressure and ability to flow fuel with out dropping pressure significantly.

I also removed the old fuel pump, which now looks absolutely wimpy. I also removed and the factory fuel filter, based on comments on this forum, I not too concerned about the fuel being unheated. I removed the fuel pump bracket, but then realized there was a gasket behind the bracket next to the engine block, I didn't want to leave the gasket on with nothing holding it, so I trimed off the hortizontal part of the bracket (where the fuel pump used to attach) and re-installed it. This really opens up the side of the engine, makes it easier to unplug my ez when I take it to the dealer, NOT.

Thanks again to Brad E. for his prompt response to all my questions, also thanks to Pastor Bob at Piers for their prompt shipment.

Jon
