Hi, I know there are a million threads on this subject, I have been on here searching for a little while. On my dads 99 2500 work truck, his torque convertor seems to slip as soon as the trans shifts into overdrive around 40-45 mph. it will continue to do this until you get up to around 50 and then all is well again. This is annoying when traffic is going right at 40, I will generally lock it out of o/d in those instances. Some possible solutions I have found is to check the ground from battery to PCM, reset APPS (is not throwing any codes though) and a tin foil fix? I saw this but do not quite understand how this works. I also saw a noise filter could correct this also, that will be last resort. If nothing else, we'll take it to where i got my trans done, mines pretty much bulletproof now. This is basically a stock truck, about 275,000 miles on it. This is the second trans he has had in it, less than 10,000 miles on this one. Thanks,

Rick

I've had good luck with cleaning the grounds/battery cables and the "foil" on the alternator wire. There is also an old tsb #18-02-99 that is a software update for the pcm just for this condition.

I'm sure the noise filter works, but these three have always worked well for me.

Could it be that you are mistaking the TC locking up at 40-45 which is around when mine locks up (it almost feels like a light shift) and when OD kicks in which is between 47-55 on my truck (depending on throttle)? Or are you seeing other symptoms of a slipping TC at the same time ie: RPMs go up with out a corresponding increase of road speed when the throttle is pushed hard?

Just something to think about.
