Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Injector troubles ????"

Another strange twist in the ongoing saga of the 1999-2002 TC problems.

Even with a complete cleaning and dialectric greasing of all grounds, good batteries, a DTT trans. filter soldered in, relocation and foiling the battery cable, SunCoast fix, and new top quality alternator the old Dodge is back to it's old ways. Now, when it's cold, the lock/unlock problem is severe. When the truck warms up it mostly goes away. I don't remember this being mentioned in any other threads on this common problem.

Anyone have any ideas on a fix before my trans is toast?

Take the alternator charge wire out of the factory harness and reroute it seperately. The noise is induced by the wire that wire that runs down to the starter then back to the batteries to charge them. The only way to completely isolate the problem is remove the source.

I also had made every suggested upgrade to my truck but from time to time, the problem would come back. The last time it occurred, it was the small two pin connector on the alternator. Seems it was arcing internally especially when the heaters were cycling and there was lots of current draw adding more electrical noise to the ground wire in the harness. I had the connector replaced and the problem again was gone.

I did see some additional symptoms where once in a while as it appeared that the alternator wasn't putting out as it should.

What I did to stop my TC lock up unlock problem.

First

Timbo heavy duty APPS with the suncoast wiring trick all solidered in

second

the no Bull technical services 217 370 7257

noise filter connected to the positive side of the alternator

works great for the last 25000 miles.

good luck
