What brand? Goerend Transmission Inc.

What builder? Dave Goerend

What price? Call him 563-778-2719

What everything?

Billet Input, Intermediate, Output shaft, billet clutch drum, triple disk converter, billet apply lever

I have goerands single disk converter and valve body kit. It was 900 to my door with a billit servo cover and lever. Had local trans shop rebuild and install his parts. I'm very happy. I told dave what I do with the truck and he told me what he recomends. Had less than $2000 in the deal and the truck actually moves now:-laf Give dave a call (several times)

I think any of the big transmission guys, DTT, SunCoast, Goerand, ATS, will work great. You just have to go all the way with the rebuild.

Read the first post before you post please...

Firsthand experience ONLY and no "I think" posts.

After reading a whole lotta trannythreads I know what the major brands are, but need to have some real facts.

Some short rewiews of your transmission/builder would be prefered!

If I might gently make a suggestion, it would be helpful if you specified your intended goals: HP, application, driving habits, etc. Knowing the power you expect to achieve and how you expect to drive it, folks could make much better recommendations.

For instance, if you expect to run 200-300 HP, the ATS VB/TC would be quite adequate. If you expect to run 500-700 HP, look at Jim Layden (2006 DHRA Quick Diesel champion); he runs a Goerend in his 12. 0 second 2WD RAM, which he drove to and from all of the races this year; he lives in WI, generally near the Minneapolis area). If you expect to run 800-1000+ HP, look at DHRA's Pro Street champions. Darren Morrison (2005 PS champion) ran a Suncoast for a couple years without any trouble at all running mid-tens in the quarter. Philip Palmer (2006 PS champion) ran a Suncoast this year with little trouble - he split his transmission case at the race in Rockingham early in the season - and he ran a 9. 90 a time or two.

Ok!
I thought it would be kind of obvious, b/c I posted in Competition Forum and asked about "full built billet transmission" and if you look in my sig, you can see that I have a VP44 built truck so I don´t need something to hold a 1000 hp.
Sorry

And for the rest of you out there, I really thought I ´d been clear enough but if you still wonder... . dragracing and sledpulling is the goal, beefy enough for future hpupgrades, and I dont mind rough shifts.

What I asked for from the beginning was short reviews of what you with billet trannys had for experience with the transmission/builder.

Short post with only a vendors name can I read in all the other trannythreads. .

Am I realy this unclear about this??

from your Sig you are dealing with almost a stock truck... . if we don't know a HP goal's or what you want to do with the truck how can we help you

you need different parts depending on the HP and if your going to drag race or sled pull or just play on the street.

i run a DTT pushing almost 600hp built by DTT and i have never had any problems,

your best bet is to call all the big named trans guys and go with who ever you feel most comfortable with.

GO WITH AN ALLISON. I run Goerand bros. convertor with it. Talk to Dave about it. It is a little pricey but you will never look back.

Thank you Gmac!

At least someone reads everthing... .

Let you all other know this...

All the fuel you can throw from a VP44 to the biggest hairdryer(s) it can spool toghether with all nitrous you need... . questions on that?

Everything billet, and I m not concerned about harsh shifts.

And yes I know I should talk to the guy and decide myself, but I need your help to find them guys thats great on rebuilding trannys... .

Did I say its all about a full built billet transmission I´m asking about??

All I want is to people with real trannys let me know whats they think about their transmission, and not what they think of a transmission they only heard of.

After this thread it seems that noone owns these trannies, but everyone wants to sell one!!!

DTT has worked great for me but I wouldn't be hesitant at all in running an Sun Coast or a Goerend Bros. transmission. You'll hear many great things about all three of those companies. I would advise you to call all three of those companies and just decide which one would fit you best and go with it.

"I think" choosing a Dave Goerend's parts in my transmission has been the best move I made. I have broken the front drive shaft twice, spider gears in the D80, twisted the rear shaft. One of our other trucks broke the pinion yoke in half. Do transmission carnage yet!!! I will rephrase my first two words "I know"

here you go

HTS transmission

Dusty is the builder and owner great guy and excellent work

Cost will be 5,000 to 6,000 that was my range but I broke everything in the transmission when my stock upgrade gave out.

If you have the money go full billet no matter what you do with the truck the transmission will be ready to handle it.

I love my HTS I pull my 16 foot 3,000 lbs trailier every day for work I also drive the truck look I stole it all the time even with trailier attached and zero issues with the transmission.

They are a fairly new company in the market but the majority of poeple up here in michigan has his stuff and almost all are making good power and zero issues. heck if its good enough that bulldog advertised that it had a HTS transmission in thier pinks truck that say alot there to.

I couldn't stomach the high prices and the condescending attitudes from the big name vendors. I will say that Suncoast was the easiest to talk to and were the most helpful. I never got anyone from Goerands on the phone.

You can get all the parts you need from http://transmissioncenter.net and do it yourself. I had a local converter shop build me a converter with the Sonnax billet front cover, and I had a friend at a local shop stack out the OD unit for me. It worked great.

This particular truck isn't a true powerhouse, but it runs good and tows heavy. It's just an 01 with a HX35/40 and a set of RV275's with a Smarty. I sold it to a friend and he drives it like he stole it every day. No problems yet.

After much consideration, I went with Goerend. So far trans is bullet proof. You won't meet a nicer fellow. Period. I have heard from time to time they can be hard to get a hold of. My experience is that he always called me back. I don't know how he could have treated me any better. I told him how much power I had, what I wanted to do with it, when I wanted it to shift at WOT-- he did the rest.

I guess I'm the only person ever to have a problem with a Goerend transmission, but 2 weeks after the install, I blew the output shaft and flex-plate (The only non-billet parts in the thing) So I guess the transmission did its job but components didn't. This was built as everyone said giving Dave the truck info and expected uses. He did build another complete transmission and shipped it to me before the other transmission was pulled. Now it's completely billet which I would highly recomend.

so you will be pushing over 800hp..... you will need all of the best parts you can find... billet shafts billet 3rd gear drum, triple disc. converter etc. ... . just make sure you tell who ever builds it what you are doing with it and you will be running over 800hp and i am sure they will build 1 bad A*S trans

GO WITH AN ALLISON. I built mine and have been running it for about 30,000 miles now with no problems. I have also sled pulled with it. You don't have to have harsh shifts to have a good tight transmission. I am running at or near 700hp and I can't get the transmission to slip. I see your not far away, so come on over and take a ride!!! hahaha
