Transmission Bearing Question

My trans is slipping again in 3rd and 4th gear. It is under the 7/70 warranty still. Dealer says they cannot duplicate the problem and will not do anything else for me until it will slip for them. While I understand their side do they really want to wait until the trans is toast and sitting along the road to do something. What if anything can I do? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

If they want a burnt-up transmission, give "em a burnt-up transmission! Chain it to a tree, put it in gear, add something to hold the gas pedal down part way..... Shouldn't take very long. They pulled that crap on me when the transmission cooler fittings melted & failed on a very steep uphill pull in our '96 CTD. One very expensive flatbed ride to the dealer later they changed the fittings & swore everything else was fine. Maybe got 3,000 more miles before transmission was a no-go. Left the camper on with a full black tank, so they could share my displeasure for the 3 days it took to replace trans, TC, cooler etc... . :D

How many miles?

A simple shift kit and a few other easily replaced pieces will cure the slipping if its not to far gone, and, make the trans last a whole lot longer than stock.

This is the second trans in 63000 mi it only has 28000 on it. I dont mind spending money on it but I want something worth throwing money at this trans just isnt. It hasnt been right from day one they have had to put two tc in it. I guess Ill hook up a trailer and head up one of the passes and fry it for them. I just didnt want to go that route.

If they say nothing is wrong tow with it and load her down sounds like there's something wrong deep inside my truck has had a trailer on it from day one 10 to 15k it lasted 160k the first time with 60k ran with a bigger turbo and injectors,Smarty after the rebiuld it's still running strong

Oh yeah, make sure the trans cooler isnt clogged. THey may or may not have flushed it clean after first trans failed---definitely will not help the new one(s) live long...

It kinda sounds like they are hoping it will go another 7k so its out of warranty and then will be more then happy to "sell" you a new trans, TC and whatever else they see fit at that time. Fill out your sig so we know what you have !

I'm not a big fan of the 48RE transmission but it is normally pretty reliable unless the engine is highly modified or loads far in excess of manufacturer's GCWR are regularly towed.

If your engine has ever had a programmer or other magic black box installed I'd recommend you take a deep breath and think about the possible downside of deliberately trashing the transmission and hauling the truck in by wrecker.

If you've already had one free rebuild you could cause the dealer service department or the regional Dodge warranty rep to look hard for a reason why yours is suffering repeat failures. They don't normally fail like that.

Im not hard on the pickup nor have I added anything to it (stock exhaust, air box) It gets used for what they are intended... . work. My warranty is not worth much to me anymore if I cant get much done before the breaking point.

I might as well buy a trans that will work so I wont have to worry about it on the road. Dealer says they wont give me their Dodge reps phone number nor will they tell me when he will be at the dealership. They are hoping I will get another 7000 miles so they can sell somthing Im sure. I called the 800 number also but found no help their as they talk to the dealer and stand with them. Is there anyway around that to the rep?

You might remind the dealership that we all read your/our complaints/problems and lack of service will spread. I know that once I told people at work about the lack of service I recieved and all the dodge owners I worked with sent the dealer ship an email and cc it to dodge. They started to be more helpfull. I will be more than willing to email them on your behalf.
