I've been through lots (LOTS) of old threads re: best place to put a temp probe for the 47RE transmission. It seems to be the option of choice to get the '95 line with the temp probe boss in it. Called a couple of local dealers--over $150! I'm not too keen on cutting in a T without seeing a picture. Can I install it in one of the test ports, like on a 47rh? Or should I cowboy up and get the line? Are there any photos of different methods? I'm more visual than read-about-it! TIA

If you decide to cut in a tee for the sender, go to a hydraulic shop. They have an assortment of compression fittings designed for steel lines.

does your 97 have the short (6" or so) rubber hose that goes between the cooler line and heat exchanger ? if not,,you will need that too if you decide to go with the 95 oem line with port.

my 01 had a single (one piece metal line) from trans to heat exch. ,,not sure what year they dropped the short flexible hose.

my guess is they quoted you for both lines.

the metal tube with sender port 5011244-AA list/retails for $100. and $75. @ wholesale.

Thanks, guys. Yes, mine has the short rubber link. Could I remove that rubber piece, replace it with a shorter piece and a fitting with a place to stick the sensor? I'd rather not cut the metal tubing.
