One of the sections mentioned piston ring type seals to keep pressurized air out of the bearings. When I removed my turbo silencer and had to get that ring out of there to pull out the silencer, am I now letting bad things happen to my bearings?

The ring that they discussed is inside the cartrige, not the silencer ring retainer.
