ABS Fault

Hi, I was doing ball joints on my truck yesterday and after it was all done I now have a ABS fault light on. I am thinking it must have something to do with the left hand wheel speed sensor, although it wasn't removed it was the wheel that was giving us trouble removing the axle. Any ideas with solving this problem besides taking it in to DC? is the sensor that fragile that it could have failed just working in that area?

Thanks

Since you've recently been working on that area, it's definitely possible you accidentally damaged the sensor or put it out of alignment with the tone ring. First thing I'd do is pull the wheel and inspect the sensor and the wiring... could be as simple as a loose connection.

Good news is the truck should still be very driveable... you just won't have any ABS.

Ryan, Thanks for the tips, have you ever adjusted the sensor yourself, just curious what is involved in the adjustment.

Clearance should be . 005" to . 050" but that doesn't change doing what you did.

I would check the tone ring real close for a crack, if it was dropped you could have cracked it or if a tooth is chipped that will do it also.

The sensors are pretty fragile, you could unplug it and measure the resistance across it. I don't have the spec in front of me at the moment but do know it has to read something other than an open circuit.
