Have a 2007. 5, 6. 7 with 39,500 miles. Noticed some antifreeze dripping from the passenger side dripping off the compressor. Assumed it was the water pump going bad and what I have read seems to be somewhat common. Took it into the dealer only to find out that there is a crack in the water inlet connector. And to top it off the Cummin's warranty or the Chrysler Extended warranty does not cover any of the cost. Part has to be UPS from a dealer in Oklahoma to Ohio and that means the truck is down for at least a week. Is this a freak thing or is there others that have this problem and if so what did it cost to repair?

my truck was leaking coolant from the same place and it was the water pump it took a couple tries with the dealer and finaaly i haad to tell them what i thought was wrong because they said they had no idea

A 5500 owner recently experienced a failed and leaking water pump at surprisingly low mileage. I think I"d look very carefully at the water pump before letting a dealer keep my truck tied up for a week awaiting parts and throwing expensive parts at it.

I brought my Dads dakota to the dealer for what I thought was an emissions problem.

Turned out it want emissions, but they notified me they do NOT cover emissions items to 75K like they used to.

Theyre getting stingy with the warranty stuff.

Yep, leaking coolant from the passenger side of the engine. A new water pump was the ticket to fix it.
