I've been a member here for about a year and this is my first post. I was preforming my second oil change today and when I emptied the breather bottle there was a small amount of antifreeze mixed in the oil. This was not present on my first oil change. I'm thinking head gasket or block. Has anyone else seen or heard of this. Thanks!

You said you changed the oil. Was it milky looking like chocolate milk? If it was just dirty diesel oil I don't see how the antifreeze got in the blowby bottle.

When I drained the oil from the pan it looks ok. The oil in the breather bottle was dirty but not oil antifreeze mixed, The antifreeze was seperated from the oil with little green balls of antifreeze mixed in the oil. I won't be able to take a good look until I drain my oil container at the local jiffy lube tomorrow.

are you sure it was antifreeze? sometimes when rain or wash water gets in the bottle it turns a green slimy color, i saw this a few times before i removed my bottle completely!!

I once got water in my residue bottle when I washed my engine. When I drained my oil some weeks later, I too thought it was coolant. I hope you are as lucky as I was and perhaps you haven't any problem at all

I once used that green degreaser from the car wash to clean my engine and a few days later changed my oil. When I emptied the breather bottle it had a green liquid in it I really got worried but after a few nervous minutes of thinking I remembered cleaning the engine with the green degreaser!

If you really think it's coolant I'd suggest an oil analysis before you do anything else.

Another indication of coolant in the oil is white scum on the underside of the oil fill cap.

Thanks for jogging my memory. I've been worried sick but thats exactly what I did. I went to the car wash and cleaned the engine with that green degreaser after the first oil change to get rid of all that residue from the blow-by bottle. Thanks for helping an old mind in need.
