Hello to all,

And let me say thanks for the advice in advance. My Buddie has a 2000 5sp. Qc. with 26,000 miles. This all started last week with a oil filter change, after the change the truck had trouble restarting, after restart the tach would no longer work, or work on and off. The Service engine light came on and the truck stalls out. After taking to the Stealer they found numerous communication codes and reflashed ecm, pcm, and changed the crank postioning sensor. On the way home tack dies, Service engine soon light comes on. aAt home we checked the breather can and find about 3oz. of antifreeze. BTW nothing showing on dipstick or last oil change. Any Help would be greatly appreciated, I think we're dealing with multiple problems but need to get some idea of what's going on.

well...

Well, that does not sound good. Does the oil dipstick show the coolant contamination as well? If so, you had better get it to the dealer. He should be within the 3/36 on the truck, and definitely under the dodge 7/100 warranty on the Cummins. If the dealership has good diesel mechanics, they will either find something simple (if that is possible) or your friend will have a new motor in his truck.

Don't drain out that antifreeze. Take the whole thing as is to the dealership. Sounds like something electrical happened when the oil sensor read no oil pressure on the first restart after the oil change, and everthing went downhill from there. The new codes should give a clue as to what is going on.

Usually antifreeze does not get into the breather can, but the water vapor does. The water evaporates out and leaves the white creamy residue. Look on the underside of the oil fill cap for the vapor residue. Also look on the dipstick for the crap too. A long time problem will leave a rusty residue or discoloration towards the top of the oil dipstick. I don't know if changing that CPS involves antifreeze in any way.

Sounds like your friend may have a loaner vehicle for a while until the dealership gets it sorted out.

As for the tach dyin' and truck stalls Sounds like a CAM position sensor ... ... . was and is still for me... ... ... however on the 2000 trucks a crank sensor is ALSO in the truck..... Dbl check w/dealer. Milky crud is allways evident where my breather exits (By the transfer case now anyways).
