I have a 7. 5 6. 7 diesel and it is leaking antifreeze from the passenger side; I first thought it was condensation from the a/c but upon looking at it close, it is antifreeze. Has anyone had this same problem or can tell me where it could be coming from? I do have an appointment to get it checked on Tuesday 7/8/10; I have 40,600 miles on it but do have an extended warranty from AA Auto.

5/8 hose next to the block behind the turbo is the first place to start, especially if it only leaks cold.

My 7. 5 started leaking and it was the water pump. There have been quite a few water pumps replaced so check your water pump.

My 01 had a small freeze plug right back on the passenger side that (from cavitation) popped a little hole in it at about 45000 miles. It was spraying high pressure coolant back against the insulation on the fire wall. Not sure if our 6. 7's have the same setup or not. The tech who fixed it said that it was a plug for the bathroom floor heat in the big motorhome application. :O

2007 6. 7 with leak on passenger side. was leaking internally and comming out the weep hole. replaced @ 37k. so far no problems. Oo.

Well, how much did it cost to replace the water pump? I took the truck to get checked and they could not find the leak even after presurrizing the system. Drove the truck on an 8 hundred mile trip with no problems but when I parked it in the garage it started leaking and it does appear to be comming from the water pump. Can you tell me how much it will cost to replace the water pump? Thanks.

When I deleted the egr cooler the rear bolt and stud were just finger tight and it had started to seep antifreeze. I would be willing to bet that is the culprit.

This is exactly what happened to me. They pressurized the system and couldn't find the leak -- even left it pressurized overnight. I took a 500-mile trip, and the day after I got back it dumped a bunch of coolant over course of a couple days just sitting in the driveway. When I took it back, they were now able to determine it's the water pump.

With 118K miles, I'm out of warranty. The pump replacement was parts ($167 for pump, $4 for a seal, $24 for antifreeze) and labor ($250) = total job $445.

My truck is going on 41000 miles but I did buy and extended warranty. It's kind of weird that these trucks are having so much problems with water pumps and at low mileage. I guess I'd better get my wallet ready; I've got an appointment to take it in on next Tuesday. Thanks to all who responded to my post.

what is the extended warranty for if it wouldn't cover that ? you already have 100k on the motor and that's part of it . I would like to know what the warranty covers or is it just a ripoff like so many other things today ?

No warranty after 100K miles and no mention of extended warranty after 100K miles.

Bill

I purchased the truck with 108K miles, and it had no transferable extended warranty. Dodge won't sell an extended warranty on a truck with over 100K miles. I got a cheap, mickey-mouse third party warranty with the purchase, but they've weaseled out of the two claims I've had on a BS technicality.

I took the truck to a shop (X-Dodge Dealer) and confirmed to them that it was the water pump leaking and asked if Cummins or the extended warranty company would cover the repair. The manager told me that the extended warranty company would not cover the repair since the engine was still under warranty (42000) miles. I then took the truck to a dealership and got the water pump replaced for free; the antifreeze was also free. Needless to say, I was pretty happy with the outcome.
