2006 RAM Transmission Issues

I have a 2006 mega cab, 5.9 . I developed an antifreeze leak yesterday as I was fueling up, there was about a litre or two on the ground in front of the truck by the time I finished fueling((engine off). I drove about 60 miles with the rad cap loosened and added about 6 litres of water in that distance with 3 stops to top up. Back at campsite I took off right side inner fender thinking it was lower rad hose cracked . The fan has splattered coolant all over the front of thE engine and I can’t seem to see where the leak is. Question is what are the common issues with coolant leaks at 130k km, or how do I determine where it’s coming from?it seems to be mostly around the right side of the engine front and dripping off up near the air filter box and the hose going to turbo. Any help would be appreciated as to how to proceed. TIA

Make sure that the O-ring that seals the pump to the block come off with the old pump so you don't end up inadvertently using TWO o-rings when you install the new pump and o-ring.

If you are approaching 100k on the belt and and belt tensioner, you may want to consider replacing them now. If you do end up replacing them, try to find oem Cummins parts instead of aftermarket at least for the tensioner.

Also, while you have tension off the serp belt, you should take the time to spin each and every pulley by hand in order to check for for tightness/roughness and/or excessive play.

I will do that, thanks,I had that o ring thing in my mind as it was.She has 140k km on her. I will look for a tensioner also

I take the air box and the alternator loose- just lay it to the side with the wires on it. It makes a nice job- and exercises the hardware too.
Make sure to use Zerex GO5 (Ford/ Chrysler/ Benz) “Gold” coolant if you want the factory fill.

Ill try and find that, not sure if the Chrysler dealer here has it, but I’ll look

Try not to buy the coolant at the dealership unnless you are stting down when they quote you the price. LOL

That said, do NOT let anyone at any parts house talk you into using a Universal coolant in its place.

Oreillys does carry the Zerex G05 HOAT concnetrate and premix....yo may as well buy the concentrate and some distilled water to make your own.
