After noticing a few drops of antifreeze on the ground, I crawled under to notice that there is antifreeze on the transmission, transfercase, up the bell housing, and up to behind the head somwhere or on the side of the block( appears to be running down the drivers rear of enginne). Checked rad and overflow bottle and there is nothing but clean antifreeze ( thought maybe a blown head gasket). It is a very hard area to see where the leak could be coming from. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there anything in that area that could leak antifeeze?

Thanks again TDR, Bret.

check the right hand side at the rear. the transmission cooler behind the turbo, down low. just above the cooler is where the #53 blocks crack. if you have a #53 block it will show below the injection pump and above the oil pan. you may have a 55 or 56 . these are not prone to cracking . hope this helps.

My engine sn# 56841547, I looked very carefully below injection pump and above oil pan on drivers side and found no "53" there are some other small numbers there but they are only 1/2" in size. I am assuming I don't have the "53" block. I spent an hour under the truck with a flash light and the leak appears to be from the very back of the head towards the drivers side( very difficult area to see) there are a couple of plugs there - so I think it's these plugs leaking or worst yet a head gasket. I blew a head gasket once before and I had oil in the coolant, irregular water temps from combustion gas in coolant cavitating the water pump, I have none of these symptoms this time. I think I'm destined to go to the dreaded dealer for there opinion.

I forgot to mention with it being the winter season here I haven't use my propane, water/meth, or comp boxe since the middle of november.

Boydo,

With the engine off, try squeezing the top radiator hose. Watch the back of the engne at the fire wall and see if you see a stream coming from the back of the block just below the head. You may have a, what I call, a freeze plug leaking. Happened to me in 02. Check out the thread I ran back then and see if my story and the input of others helps you this time.
