Missing My LSD on new 03

I am interested in raising the fuel economy for my 2003 HO 6spd. I have read several positive articles regarding the results from installing a Horton electric/clutch fan. I see claims of 1-2mpg increase on the older, second generation trucks. Has anyone put a Horton fan on a 2003? Was it worth it? Do you have Part #'s or tips on where to buy?

Any additional fuel economy enhancement info would be appreciated. Right now I am getting about 16. 67mpg out of my 2500 4X4 with 3. 73's (completely stock).

I think the stock setup is much improved over the second generation trucks. Can not confirm until I take delivery. It is nice to have the horton on the second gen truck. It only runs during the summer and when towing. Sort of anoying when it comes on for the A/C. I pushed a lot less air and used less diesel. I dont think I used 700$ less diesel though.

The 3rd gens fans are controlled by both the old fashioned thermal clutch and by electric actuation like the Hortons.

If you look upward from under the fan you can see the wiring.

the 3rd gen fans ARE annoying - i'm sure due-in-part to the quiet engine. if it was above ~72 degrees my fan would run until i hit ~40mph. additionally, driving around this summer it seemed to me that the stock fan was quite a load on the engine. i don't even notice the fan on my '00 excursion psd - doesn't seem to NOTICABLEY pull on the engine.

any info on any fan mods would surely be appreciated - thanks

My thoughts exactly. I never owned a Horton on my 2gen truck but was hopeful they were far less of a load on the engine. The 03 fans are nice but they seem to run when its unnecessary. :)
