Exactly luken. Everybody and their brother has a 10 second race car around here. i built two big block chevies that would do the same. No problem. Everybody has a build sheet for a 10 second car. But when I can pull on a 3000# supercharged car running 80 on the interstate, well its a little bigger challenge to do that with a 1 ton truck. Eveyone expects the Z06 vette or the viper to be fast, but thats just too ordinary for me. And besides, you gotta work on that 10 second gasser after every pass. These truck you can drive to the track, even pull your race car with it, unhook and smoke a few gassers while your there. And still get decent mileage. I like the thought of going fast in something you can actually use every day.

One other thing - the Chevy/Duramax is not a big terd like every CTD owner claims them to be! The way I look at it is that the Dmax is a great engine that makes good power is very remarkable for the reliability that it offers but doesn't offer the longjevity of the CTD and is a total beotch to work on!!

Granted I give all my friends w/ chevy's a lot of crap about there aluminum Izuzu engine but I also have been humiliated at the drag strip by these tin cans and my trucks not slowest Dodge around either so I chose to give credit where credit is due!

Also I've had my truck towed by a Duramax when it broke and they tow very well! If I didn't compare it to my twin turbo cummins then I wouldn't have any complaints! So If you want a TRUCK that will make good power and look good for a few years before you buy a new one than the chevy isn't a bad idea but if you want a TRUCK that you wanna drive till the wheels fall off and plan on doing your own mechanic work then IMHO you'll be better off with a Cummins!!

I had a 05 DMAX Allison W/T with 11' service bed. It would overheat, no power at 65 when you needed to pass, it was slower than a semi, check engine lite always came on and then would mysteriously turn off just before service, terrible MPG (12). Facts are they are not service friendly. The only thing I liked about it was the Tow mode on the trans with grade braking and the quick acelleration form a dead stop to 70. I would not buy one. FYI, I did not buy the truck, the company did, and has been removed from service due to fuel prices. The service manager stated MPG normal.
