Looks to be the bottom edge door seal. Tough to see from that vantage point. it is supposed to look like the rounded weather type seal that you would commonly see on say a storm door (Rubbery and feels hollow)

It's actually very solid

plastic - not rubbery at all... that's what has me feeling it's cosmetic..... and the parts list is not helpful at all, i. e. it doesn't seem to show it... ...

Solid as in molded that way or hard water and detergent have hardened it? If molded it is the drip guide. It's sole purpose is to divert water into the Dishwasher tub when water is running down the inside of the door. Kind of like standing in the shower and moving your arm from your side to 45*. The water follows your arm and you can drip water wherever you want.

On ours the bottom seal is on the other side of the door as it is hinged inside the tub. Im wondering if it is something to direct water flow when it is running? Were it me I'd just glue it back down and say "honey its fixed".
