I don't belong but my mother has been in Eastern Star for 40 years. Held every position from lowest to highest.

Is it true you guys are trying to take over the world by placing fellow Masons in positions of power around the world?

Not as far as I'm concerned, that just like the mystery shooter on the knoll with the magic bullet

Couldn't find the other thread in the archives

I'm currently stationed at Kings Bay, GA and the lodge there has had several new members in their 20s petition and be accepted in just the past year. I know five of them because I'm stationed with them. They are loving it.

DPellegrin, once one young guy joins a Lodge, it seems like he attracts others of his age group to join, also. At least, that's the way it's been going in this area.

Is it true that an African-American guy can't join the Masons? Somebody must have challenged it in court by now.

Not true. I know of at least one that is a member at the lodge where I'm stationed in SE Georgia.

Even if it were true, I don't believe there is any recourse. Masons take no federal funding or assistance from anyone. They are self sufficient. Petition to join doesn't mean you will be accepted no matter what color you are. It is a fraternal organization.

There are African-American lodges. They would not have to accept me if I petitioned for membership.

I know there are African-American lodges. I don't know if they accept other races or not. It probably depends on what Grand Lodge they belong to.

Eastern Star are usually wives of Masons. I'm not sure if they accept single females. I don't know why not if they don't. My wife is not Easter Star and I'm not that familiar with the organization.
