Getting extra power out of a Cat is usually pretty spendy... Not sure which motor he's got, but it sounds like an older model. Not sure if they are making new V8's now or not?

I agree with Evan, bombing a Cat usually requires Cat parts, too much money per HP gained. Most Cat engines are at their peak for the applications they are used for, whereas our Cummins have been choked down by Dodge, all we are doing with most bombing is bringing them back up to normal.

What engine is it? Is it a 3208?
Find out what series engine it is and let us know.

As for CAT's needing parts to get an uprate, check the Cummins techs and they will tell you the you need to change parts too. If you change parts on a CAT to increase power then you still have your warranty. If the engine in question is an electronic version, there isn't anything that can be done other than what a tech at a dealer can do. It is all in the programing. If it is mechanical then a twist of the 'fuel screw' will do the trick.

Chad,
Thx, my email is messed up. Seems my ISP got on some outbound spam list and they had to crank up the security... #ad

The cat went to the vet #ad
and it seems the intercooler is swiss cheese. They can't find one so my pal is off to Ford to buy a replacement ($800 ouch). The turbo is leaking oil, but everyone hopes the blown intercooler was the reason. .

Any good place to find cat turbos?
