On damp mornings, my fan clutch will squek, fairly loud, for several minutes.

It's quite annoying, compared to the "loverly" sound of the Cummins.

I've tried heavy oil, then light oil. Each only seems to work for a week or so.

The search I performed turned-up lots of electric fan replacements, but not much else.

Any thoughts on quieting this thing down?

Are you sure that it is the fan clutch and not the belt? When it is squeaking, use a spray bottle and spray water on the belt. If it goes away, then your belt is the problem.

It's definetely the clutch. While running, if I get a bit of oil into that clutch area, it quiets right down.

Also, when it is squeking, when I shut the motor off, I can still hear the squek for about another second (I know the belt is not moving, and it's just the fan still spinning with momentum).

It would be a pain to oil every week, and I'm not sure if that might even cause damage, so I'm looking for another solution???

Don't buy a GYPO fan clutch at the discount parts stores, you will be sorry. Buy a Hayden or Valley HD and make sure that it looks the same. I bought a replacement for an Econoline that I had and the thing would over-heat... it never engaged. I took it back and bought the HD one and all was well. Had the same problem with a Corvette that I worked on also. Old saying... "You get what you pay for" Chris

Thanks for the information.

I'll have to start pricing this stuff.

My philosophy with this truck has been to wait until it wears out, then upgrade when I do the replacement. This fan falls right into that category. Got what I can out of the original, now I can put something better in.
