Once again folks, I am starting a 4BTA/NV4500/NP205 in a 1980 Scout II project in about 10 days, and I need some info ASAP! I understand that a second gen Dodge 6B bellhousing will bolt up to a 4BTA. If this is not the case, please correct me. If its true, does anyone know how to get the EXACT part #'s to get all the numbers to get the thing bolted together! I know someone has wrestled with this before and any info on how to smooth the process along would be great! ALSO, any info on getting 4BTA's, Dodge spec NV4500's/NP-205's would be especially welcomed! Thanks!

Can't help you with the 4bt stuff, but.....

The transfer case from a 89 to 93 Cummins powered truck will bolt right up to a later model NV4500 transmission. I used a 92 205 and a 98 NV4500 transmission. Use the adaptor sleeve from the 205, remove the rear seal from the NV4500, run the same oil in both (there is still a seal between the two units on the transfer case side) and seal up where they bolt together real good. Cross-contamination is minimal, and using the same oil in both reduces any other problems. Also, it would appear to me that the normally non-lubricated adaptor sleeve is now well-lubricated:cool:

Brannex Truck Salvage in Albuquerque has a bunch of parts trucks, they may have what you are looking for. Ask for Manual (505-877-4244).

I might be trying this on a 70 bronco here in the near future, using YOU as the guinnie pig, of course. Keep us posted and good luck.
