Ive been thinking about pulling at a local pull, and wondering what gear combo i should be thinking of. Last year the track was tight. I have fairly new maxxis bighorn's 305/75's, nv4500 sbc, pod's, PDR HX 35, BHAF, 3200gs, timing and fuel screw adjustments. 4'' exhaust from factory flange back.

i have a 90 dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 that i have pulled with. mine is all stock with 3. 08 gears with an 727 automatic i did pretty good being the only stock in the 8,000 class,26 inch pull height. good luck my best 114 feet use 31 inch toyo all terrien works very weel under the diesel

I run in 4 low in drive O/D off 3. 50's in the front and rear. I pulled 270 foot and got 4th. My truck was a little under weight for my class 6870# could have had as much as 8200#.

Sorry not much help for a stick shifter though.

Your little D70 pinion won't like the big tires and moderate power you would be putting through it. 2nd gear 4 low if you want to drive it home:-laf, you won't set any speed or distance records, 3rd gear 4 low if you want to chance doing good and possibly breaking something:eek:.

what else can i do to my truck for alittle bit more snort? :p

93 cc 4x4, nv4500 sbc, open air intake, 4" from factory flange back, pod's, pump and timing mods, pdr hx-35, 3200gs

I think the pinion will be fine if you don't get to bouncing with the power on. 2nd gear+low side of the tcase you will be fine. I don't know how good your clutch is, but 3rd gear low side would be more competitive. I've tried with those size tires, and could not get the Sachs clutch to hook, trying to pull 3rd gear low side.

I just pulled friday night with my 93, picked the wrong line and ended up second to a stock 24 valve :( I tried to go down low and ended up in a soft spot. If I would have went high like the 24 valve did, it would have been closer.

My wife drove it home ;), and I followed in my 75. Drove both, hooked both, ended up 2nd with the diesel, and first in the gasser class with the 75, and drove them both home. It was a good night.

The limiting factor on your truck right now is having enough ground speed to be very competitive. 2nd low will most likely be too slow at the big end, especially if there are any strokers, or Dmaxes with autos(or any cummins truck with a twin disk clutch). If you upgraded your clutch to a twin disk, then you definatly could pull 3rd low, be competitive. Then you would probably want to get a dana 80 out back, and then the weak link would be??????? Got me, go out and try! :-laf

Bigger injectors, bigger turbo, and bigger lift pump.
