3 year warranty about dead, but...

Besides compression test, what else to check.

I have seen alot of really nice trucks on this site. I was wondering if there are any not quite so nice ones. I just posted a picture of my overflow bottle being held on with baling wire. Anyone else have anything held on with the universal fastener, duct tape, or twine?

I don't have a picture, but on my '92, the throttle linkage rod is held to the pump using baling wire. I have a new rod, but have not had time to put it on. I have spare wire in the truck in case the current piece breaks. :-laf

i will try and find a pic of my 98, but you better go to the bathroom first because you will s*** when you see it. its a through and through work truck, ask ian. lets do some hunting.

So what you are saying is that you do not know how to use alternative fasteners. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I've been driving since 1972. My first car was an Austin A40 that I bought for 22 dollars. It liked to vapor lock on long hills. My dad showed me how to slice an orange to the middle and wire it onto the fuel line. Worked like a charm. When it would start doing it again, it was time to change the orange. I believe I used baling wire to adjust the right headlight also.

No pic and not even on my CTD but about 20 years ago I had an upper radiator hose blow on me in the middle of Kansas on I-70 on a Sunday on my way to Denver. I wrapped it in duct tape and drove the car another 70k before I sold it. I sold it with the duct taped hose still on there. Never did leak so why spend the 10 dollars on another hose. The buyer asked me about it I told him what happened he said wow ok and handed me the cash and drove away.

This should be good for a few chuckles.

Way back when I was in High School I had a Renault CRV not even sure what year it was but the hood which was actually the trunk (rear engine vehicle)

used to fly open over 30 MPH. Soooo I cut a big piece of inner tube and fastened it to the hood and the other end of the loop hooked over the

front bumper.

Not pretty but effective. ;)

Looks like the orange plastic twine that they bale hay with on his hood latch manual overide. Mine is baling wire, but I hope to upgrade to a cable as soon as I can find a wrecked ten speed bicycle to rob a brake or shifter cable from.

I wish I had some photos of some of my old work trucks. If they didn't have at least 20,000 hours on the clock, we didn't own it. You would be suprised how much you can hold together with duck tape and cable ties.

The best were the rust patches on the rocker pannels. They consisted of duck tape over the holes with tigerhare overtop. The ducktape usually stuck to the body long enough to pass inspection, and after about 3-4 weeks, it fell off, and you had your air conditioning back.
