3500 Technical Specs Question - sag2 are you out there?

Looking at the new oil spots on my driveway and the smell of raw diesel around the engine compartment, it is apparent to me that the time for me to get another trucks is coming about 2 years earlier then I had hoped. The blowby is tremendous and I am adding about a qt. oil every 700 - 1000 miles.

My question to you C&C folks out there is, are the dealers dealing on the new C&C's? Did you get yours a good deal under the sticker?

As monetary realities are hitting home, my only option would be a 3500 4X4 C&C 6-speed manual with a Hemi gasser ... diesels are no longer cost effective unfortunately and can no longer justify the $6700 premium which is more than enough to pay for a used dump body and Hydrolics.

Currently there is a $1000 cash back on CC's or 0. 0% or 2. 9%. But I am wondering if these 3500 CC's could be had for a good deal less?

It is very difficult to find websites with Dodge CC pricing other than the official Dodge site. Is there any other sites for pricing of Commercial Dodge trucks? I have about exhausted my search for these.

There are the same deals if you look. Invoice-rebates-some to all of the holdback=deal. Search dealers like Dave Smith and Steve White or even ebay.

Frahm Dodge has a good selection of C&C,s and if you talk to Mike Frost (fleet manager) I'm sure you could get a good deal. (888-503-6343) He gave me about 4K off sticker when I ordered it. That was not a stocked item so I thought was a great deal, and if you can find a 07 you have leverage. But I don't think your going to find too many gassers though and your not going to like the HEMI when pulling heavy. There gutless and they suck fuel to the tune of 7MPG when pulling heavy. The HEMI is a good performance engine under normal conditions but add weight and you lose the economy and you will regret not getting the 6. 7. My brother still regrets it, and when we pull together, I still have to stop when he has to fill that 35 gal tank at higher prices because he can't make it to the cheaper stations in town, on long stretches.

Good Luck on your purchase.

Steve...

Adam Macomber gave me a quote thate was $1900 below invoice, and is willing to arrange the courtesy delivery and upfit for me also. His cell is 509-475-2480.

As for finding the pricing Do a search for Chrome Carbook. Chrome Carbook

should work.

I ordered and purchased a 5500 C&C from Dishman... . here in Spokane..... the same deal as I've gotten on my other purchases...

$1000 back of invoice, $500 Farm Bureau Discount and any other factory supported discounts at the time... .

I know that both Dave Smith and Dishman offer the same discount structure... they are here to move trucks... .

I suggest you go to either Dave Smith Motors NEW, USED, Wholesale or Dishman Dodge | Spokane - Spokane Valley - Deerpark | New - Used - Commercial Dealership | Washington and get a quote... I've personally used Rob @ Dishman and have very happy... . I think his email is -- email address removed --

BTW - it was on the news here right after the first of the year, they interviewed the owner of Dave Smith... for the last X# of years they have been the largest Dodge Dealer in the world... something like 8,000 new vehicles out the door in 2007..... sorry don't remember the exact number... .

Thank you folks for the quick replies. It does pain me to have to really look at a Hemi, but since my trips with my truck are maily less then 30 miles (though one day a week I do round trip to work of 130 miles), I think the new diesel would get all messed up and cause me huge expenses down the road with the emissions junk.

It will be many years before the bugs are worked out of the diesels and their expense I believe is just too great for someone who does not haul for a living and go many 10's of thousands of miles a year with them.

I am looking at the long term cost of maintenance and repair of the truck as well as the addition cost in fuel, and these days the diesels loose out.

The other problem is I'm not a millionaire and the additional $6700 for the diesel to me is like looking at Mt. Everest to a hiker. The prices have become rediculous and the diesel option would pay for a dump body, hydrolics, and installation.

I had my heart set on a 4500 or 5500, but when reality hits you need to take stock in what you can afford (and I can't even afford the 4 door gasser, but am looking at standard cabs only which stinks).

Unless the dealers are willing to come down in price off what is posted on Official Dodge Site - New Autos, Trucks, Minivans, SUVs, Cars, Wagons . . I will very likely be going with the HEMI :( and have to keep towing to a minimal but utilize the dump.

I put 500K on them before I trade... . I'm putting into service the 5500 and replacing a 00 F550... I read your first post and would fix the truck before I replaced it... my 04 now has 260K.....

Just my thoughts...

I would like to do that first, but the rust is so bad that I doubt the frame will have any integrety left within 2 years. (SALT SHOULD BE BANNED FROM ROADS!). I just don't want to spend some 10K on a rebuilt or remanufactured engine with installation and only get 2 more years from it.

I will not sell my old truck. I will keep it and try to fix what I can my self and when there is some spare $$$, but right now I gaurantee you, you wouldn't even give me $2,000 for my old truck.

I also have to put a new roof on my house this fall or at the latest spring 2009 (I gotta get the heck out of the northeast).

Age and not really milage is killing my old truck.

Another question ... for all the references of dealerships in states other than my home state of NH, assuming I could get a deal on a truck, wouldn't the savings be eaten up in transportation cost and taxes?

NH does not have a Sales Tax on anything, and paying a Idaho or Washington state sales tax on a truck would more than wipe out any savings I would think?

What happens is you buy the truck from one of these out of state dealers, the truck comes out of their allocation but is shipped to a local dealer for a "courtesy delivery". You pay the local dealer a minimal fee usually between $4-500 for their "time". Sales and use tax along with registration are only paid in the state in which you register the vehicle. So wouldn't get hit with any sales tax. There is a dealert Nashua I believe with a few C&Cs on the lot you may be able to get them to deal. Do not pay sticker, see my post above, find the truck model you want, and configure it. Listening to what you mentioned above you should be able to get the truck and dump for less than 30,000. If your not computer literate email me your options list and I will run the configuration on Carbook and send you the pricing. Just do it before Wed as I will be out of the country and away from computers for a week.

If you want me to give ya a call pm me your number with a good time to call.

Well I am going to guess you pull some kind of a trailer now, so why not just get another truck and continue that way. I clean 200k dually 99-00 for 10 to 12k and then even a dump trailer and you are ahead and have a combo that will net you great fuel economy. To be honest before I would buy a hemi I would buy a used F450 with a 7. 3 (just no 6. 0). Within a short time I bet you will hate and regret the purchase of a hemi.

You guessed right, I currently have an older 10K dump trailer, but would get rid of it when buying a C&C with a dump. I know the payload capacity of a 3500 would not be as much as my dump trailer (approx 7500 lbs).

The other reason I believe a Hemi would be OK, would be that I currently am only pulling approx 3K lbs of backhoe on my 10K flatbed or my VW Jetta ... not a lot of weight.

I also figured that the Hemi has been a pretty good reliable engine for Dodge (more so than the new Cummins) and maintenance and repairs would be considerably less then the diesel. Especially when it comes time to replace the diesel emissions stuff (many thousands of dollars).

Also, as for used trucks, I'm not in the habit of buying other peoples problems ... especially trucks. A compact car would be OK, but not trucks ... too beat up.

Another topic to talk about here is who makes a good dump body?

I'll need cash to pay for a dump body, hydrolics, and installation.

FATCAT: I just had my 2500 serviced yesterday and talked to Mike Frost about the C&C you had in mind, but is a 07 Auto/4X2 and the price was $21,642. 00. This truck has a MSRP $26,060. 00 and they are selling it at $23,642. 00 and he said he would take 2K off of that. This truck was surplus from Royal Truck Bodies and was returned to dealer so this wont last if your interested. You can PM me for better details.

After my experience with several 7. 3L power strokes I would not buy another one... . the old 7. 3L w/o turbo is a great low HP truck but we've had several injector changes and wiring harness issues with the powerstroke that we've never had with the cummins. .

My 5500 single cab, longest frame available with upgraded seats, 6 CD, Nav, U-Connect SLT was around 39K and change.

Thanks for the info, but I really NEED a 4X4. Not just for the snow and ice in NH, but especially for the "Mud Season" in the spring.

I am still trying to jump around with number on different trucks.

Again, my ideal truck right now would be (and I am doing anything to see if I can swing it) is:

ST model C&C 4500 Reg. Cab 84" cab to axle

6-speed manual

ST Decor (no electric windows, locks, or key)

Air Condition

Cloth 20/40/20 bench

Snow Plow Prep.

Spare Tire (I can't believe a spare is optional)

Limited Slip

Tow Hooks

Engine block heater

Speed Control

Trailer Brake Controller Harness

48 mth max payments with 10k down.

Hows that for specific.

Check your email and pm's. I think you may be surprised by the 3500's but the 4500's are very expensive since they can only be had with $7000+ Cummins. Good luck.
