W Idaho Dyno Day. May 15

OK, here's the deal. I'm looking at taking a job up in Great Falls and want to get as much info as possible to make up my mind smartly (well, as smartly as I can that is) and know whether I need to push back by turning it down and stay in Colorado, or grab onto it, hang on tightly and make the move . I'm worried about things like:

1. What's the business sector looking like for options if this job finishes or I want to stay.

2. Is Montana a "make my day" state? This is more to find out if the CCP is the same/reciprocal agreement in place/etc. How to transport weapons during the move...

3. I know it's beautiful, but what all is there to do other than my planned hunting/fishing/camping/etc? Would an RV be recommended or not?

4. Where are some good places to eat (NOT McD's or fast food chains).

5. If I were to take some time off to preview the area, where's a good place to stay in GF. Especially if I'm going to be enjoying number 4! lol.

6. Granted I grew up in small-town Michigan and the area sounds much the same but are how are the schools systems? Any to steer away from? Weather?

I can think of a million others but I'm hoping that's enough to start to get someone to just speak about their experiences... .

Also, if interested PM me a phone number and I'll call you (my dime) to chat...

1. You don't say what you do... so its hard to say how the business sector is for you in particular. That being said, population is still falling and industry in general is growing. I can't speak to Great Falls but Kalispel, Bozeman, Billings are all growing and there is an increasing tech sector.

2. Montana is a "make my day state". Guns are expected. I'd say MT is more conservative than CO. There was a run on property about 20 years ago that brought a bunch of cash buyers out of california. Before that it was people from canada. You can't help but run into the californians and just shake your head. I know a couple who are pushing to get burn bans for fireplaces, wood stoves, and open fires... . idiots.

3. What else is there but hunting and fishing... . :D Skiing is great. depends on what you like. I spend a lot of time flying the back woods areas. The Bob Marshall wilderness area is a great place to hide out.

4. can't answer for Great Falls.

5. Go west on I-90 and see the sights. Cities and Yellowstone. Turn North at St. Regis and keep going till you get to Kalispell/White Fish. This goes along the west side of flathead lake. Then come down the swan valley which is on the east side of flathead lake. (take in Glacier Park) Then go up to Helena and Great Falls.

6. Schools are pretty much schools everywhere. Common thinking is to avoid tribal schools.

Where are you at in CO. My brother is down in Pueblo. He knows a lot of people in MT (went to U of M) and might know more about Great Falls.

PM coming with number.

John
