Anyone from the Houston TX area familiar with David Foster Truck Sales? They have a few CTD's listed on autotrader.com that I'm interested in. Just want to know if they're a reputable dealer before I make a trip from Mass. to look/buy a truck.

Thanks - Brian

That would be huge! I'm in Mass, and used 98's are in scarce supply. If anyone is in the area, the address is 17650 Northwest Freeway. It's a white 98 2500 4x4 Quad Cab. If you need more info, feel free to e-mail me, and I'll get what ever I can. THANK YOU!

I bought my truck that you see in my signature from them. I bought it two years ago this november with 87,000 miles on it. there was absolutely nothing wrong with the truck that I could find. They had gotten it in on a trade and I believe the reason the owner traded it was because after I had bought it I found it had a torque converter locking unlocking problem. But as you will read on here that is usually easy to fix and mine was. Other than that it has been a great truck. Just rolled 201,350 miles this week. I have to admit though. They are tuff on their prices. I did not get them to come down hardly at all, then again I neede the truck for work and did not have to much time to shop around.

Jason - were/are you from that area, or did you find your truck online? Did they have a large selection or are they a small lot?

I called the other day and they said that their website has been down for a while, so it's hard to tell what else they have. What was the name of the salesman you did the deal with?

- Brian

Brian, They have a small lot and had about 7 or 8 CTD all different years. At the time they only had 3 salesmen/women including David. I pretty much dealt with David Foster himself. Easy going guy. Shorts/t-shirt kind of guy, family man. His wife took care of the books and so forth. Has a couple of kids. I live in Lake Charles, Louisiana and was driving around between here and Houston looking for trucks but I found him in the autotrader and made a trip to his lot. His selection was good. At the time he mainly dealt in trucks, CTD, PSD, etc. as well as some bigger trucks such as box vans and so forth. I did not realize they had a website.

I just helped my brother buy a truck from Century Truck and Trailer in Grand Prairie, TX (he lives in CA).

I would dicker on price and get a sales / buyers order so no sechenaigans (sp). They were ok to deal with, but I went and test drove it, so maybe that makes a difference.

It was towards the high end of retail, but they made several issues right, that I noted.

So far I believe it was fairly represented, lets hope so, as its out of my mobile service area! :)

Good luck, Andy

First off, thanks to Michael for spending about 20 minutes on the phone walking around (in, under and on top of) this truck for me. It speaks volumes about the attitude of the members that I've seen on TDR.

My decision is to take a pass on this one. It's not quite the quality of truck I'm willing to settle for. It's probably a pretty good truck for the asking price, but I need to find a great one (don't we all!)

Unfortunately, this purchase represents a huge investment for me, as I will be leaving a pretty good job to go back to school soon, so I need to feel confident that I'm buying a truck that I feel someone took great care of, and that I will get years of service out of without major expense.

Once again, thank you Michael and the rest of the members. The search continues!!
