Thanks, TDR Staff

Holy Cow!! and I do mean Holy Cow!!

Check out this Dodge Cummins!!!

There is a new television ad for jeep where they drive up to a no hunting / trespassing sign and let some deer out and say now you will be safe. How stupid. I am ashamed that I have supported this company now. I have not seen the ad myself but I have read several descriptions of it. I am mad. Can we put this on all the topics on this site, I want every hunter on here to let DC know what they think.

The deer will be safe alright. Just like they were in the early 1900's before the hunting prgrams were put in place. When are folks gonna get it through their heads that hunting is the ULTIMATE conservation program.

Don~

Where and when?

Do you remember where, what channel/show this was? Also, what was the message from Jeep, i. e. how does it sell their product? Was it the tough drive there or what? It wasn't meant to be funny was it?

With the way DC is building the fronts of their vehicles, hitting the deer with the vehicle, the deer will still be safe. Sounds like the Tree-huggin granola eatin, VW drivin, "activists" have gotten to DC.

We should send pictures of our damaged vehicles and animals we've hit to DC and ask them who they are trying to protect.

Oh wait, if the vehicle crumples into a little ball after hitting a sparrow, that means the "engineered crumple zones" worked. Yeah right, DC gets to make a huge profit on parts to put it back together.

I have not yet seen it.

I read about it on varminthunters.com a site I read daily. We need to let DC know what we think. I am sick and tired of all this liberal, tree hugger, passive, anti gun, anti human, anti freedom, communist propoganda. Every time you turn on the TV or pickup a periodical there it is. Here is what I wrote to DC. Doubt those jokers will ever read it.

Great new ad for jeep. I have been driving DC vehicles exclusively for years now. Never again. I am first and foremost an outdoorsman. I am also a conservationist. I kill several deer each year. Your ad showing some yuppies letting deer out where they will be "safe" is the most insane display of stupidity that I have ever seen. They will be safe from a quick painless death maybe, but not disease and starvation that occurs when deer populations are not managed. You have shown your ignorance in the most visible way possible. What were you thinking? You think the people and govt of this nation will bail you out next time you are in danger of collapse. Not if 25 million sportsmen have anything to say about it. Belive me, we will. If you want to remain in business I suggest you make some kind of public apology, and next time leave politics to the politicians. If you can't say something sensible it is best to keep your damn mouth shut. Chace Aldridge Driving Dodge Pickup # 4 and Chrysler #1. I hope there is good reasale on these, when I trade them at the Ford dealership.

I do remember on tv I heard a guy say if it weren't for duck hunters there would be no ducks`. I am sure it is the same for deer. A friend of mine drove from Houston to El Paso during Christmas and counted 56 dead deer on the road. I wonder how much damage that caused not to mention if anybody got hurt or killed during this. They should see the films about where deer move into orchards or towns trying to find food in the winter bacause of the over population. The land will just carry so many. My students friek out when they find out I am a hunter and actualy kill deer or any animals. My resposnse is what kind of pizza do you like, usually pepparoni or hamburger is at the top. They bout have a cow when I tell them hamburger is from a cow and pepperoni is from a pig. They really flip when I tell them where chicken nuuggets that Mcdonalds sell comes from.

I post no hunting signs on my land. It reduces the possibility of some idiot shooting the horses and leaves the big moose for me!:D

Others are allowed to hunt after I take my moose.

Has anyone seen the new specs. for the 2003 Rubicon TJ? It will be equipped with front and rear 44s, air lockers, 4 wheel disc brakes, 31 inch tires, and diamond plate rocker guards.

That really is a shame, some idiot in advertising got an idea through that never should have seen the light of day. DC will learn the hard way, just like Citibank and Budweiser did. Hunters and sportsmen are why there is plentiful game today, not eco-freaks. Hunters and sportsmen are an economic factor in this country too if united. Send DC a well written letter, quote some facts if you can (NWTF, DU, Delta Waterfowl, RMEF, Pheasants Forever, Quail Unlimited, NRA are all great resources), that tells them why you are not going to support them if they continue to support the anti-hunting movement. Doing so threatens the wildlife in our country first and foremost, and a heritage that I for one would like to pass on to my children. Respect for the environment, the wildlife, and fellow man is something that escapes the eco-left.

Proof positive that herd management by hunting is a necessity:

Drive through Fort A. P. Hill in Northern Virginia(Hwy. 301), at night. HUNDREDS of miniature, sickly looking deer crowding the roadway to watch you drive past. Apparently no hunting is allowed on that Army base. (I'm not sure)

The bucks are of a size that the trophy rack will make a nice addition to the wall of your travel trailer. :D If you can get the taxidermist to touch up the leprosy sores.

Bummer about some stupid, anal liberal at an ad agency coming up with such a commercial. The Jeep ads until now, have been so good... .

Sounds like the Tree-huggin granola

eatin, VW drivin, "activists" have gotten to DC.

Whoa there:mad: I drive a VW as well. Diesel mind you:)

Did you hear what PETA did? I believe it was in Iowa that the deer hunters has to wear so much hunters orange so the PETA guys decided to put an orange "vest" on the deer. I did not get if they painted it on or what. Anyway it made it easy for the hunters to see them. Out of 400 and something deer they put the "vest" on, well over 300 have been shot. I just heard part of this on the radio news this morning.

DC's cheap ad

Here's DC ad and a little extra... I was sent this by the NAHC. Called this morning to express my dissatisfaction and all voice mails were filled and no humans around... have to keep trying.

DaimlerChrysler, maker of the popular Jeep line of vehicles,

has turned its back on American sportsmen by launching an

advertising campaign that glorifies anti-hunters and

vilifies hunters.

In Jeep's "Deer Hunter" commercial, a man drives a Jeep

through a wooded area with two deer tied on top of the

vehicle. As the Jeep drives by, camouflaged hunters are

shown in the woods, in close proximity to each other and the

road, admiring the man's deer. The driver of the Jeep then

crosses the road to a location posted with a "No Hunting"

sign. The Jeep stops, the man gets out and releases the

deer, which had appeared to be dead. The driver tells the

deer that they're safe and the deer then bound away. In the

background, other Jeep owners are shown doing the same

thing.

"Although this message is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, it

won't be taken that way by the 40 million sportsmen across

America," said Wildlife Legislative Fund of America

President Bud Pidgeon. "This ad gives the distinct

impression that people who 'save' wildlife from hunters--and

drive Jeeps--are the good guys. In reality, the good guys

are American sportsmen. They're our nation's No. 1

conservationists and they're the reason that America's

wildlife is flourishing. "

Jeep's spokeswoman, Diane Jackson, was unwilling to

acknowledge the insulting message portrayed in its

commercial. She says that the ad is creative and that it

will continue to run nationally.

Apparently, Jeep isn't listening to its customers. A Jeep

employee reports that calls protesting the commercial are

swamping its switchboard.

"Sportsmen need to send DaimlerChrysler and Jeep a strong

message that its anti-hunting sentiments aren't

appreciated," Pidgeon said. "As an owner of a vehicle

manufactured by this company, I intend to communicate my

resentment about the direction that this company has taken.

I'll encourage my friends and colleagues to do the same. "

CEO Dieter Zetsche can be contacted directly at: Box 218004,

Eco Terrorists (same as Bin Laden)

Thanks slowneasy. I pasted your text into an e-mail to all of the people I know who hunt or are against the eco-freak, ultra-left, liberal bias media. More calls to DC.

These idiots don't realize that if no one hunted in the US, millions of large game, birds and water fowl would die of disease. I bet they wonder where the hunters are when they have a bear rummaging through their trash cans in their eco-friendly house in the Sierras.

I haven't seen the commercial, but this really ticks me off. The voice mailboxes are all full at the number posted here - anybody have email addresses? I'm looking and will post back here if I find useful ones.

Start the presses... .

(Come to think of it, I could have used a Jeep to haul that Very Dead deer off the mountain a couple months ago)

READ THIS Got a response from Dodge today.

This was sent to me today by DC themselves. How bout that. Don't know what to think of it yet, just now read it.

"Dear Chace:

Thank you for your recent email to DaimlerChrysler regarding the "Deer Hunter" commercial.

"Deer Hunter", a 30-second television commercial for the Jeep brand of sports utility vehicles, was created to show the attributes of the Jeep vehicles; their off-road capability, ruggedness, and their ability to carry large loads with ease.

It is our belief that the ad does this very effectively, and in a fun, tongue-in-cheek style that Jeeps commercials are known for. Unfortunately, some viewers have missed the positive product messages and instead, seen negative messages that were not intended.

This misunderstanding is unfortunate since it was never our intention to denigrate hunters or hunting. After all, hunting is as much a part of the American fabric as Jeep vehicles. Additionally, we respect those groups to which hunters belong. While we stand by the creative intent of "Deer Hunter", we are also sensitive to hunters who find the ad objectionable.

Chrysler Group apologizes to anyone who was offended by the "Deer Hunter" ad. In the same way that we encourage motorists to drive safely, Chrysler Group supports the right of all individuals to hunt responsibly.

Thank you again for writing.

Deer

Since we have eliminated virtually all of the natural predators that keep deer herds in check, it is up to hunters to keep the herds thinned out. I really don't give a damn about the deer, but if their population gets to high, the damned things start eating bark, trees die, and then mountains die, streams get muddy and dammit to he$$, that can impact salmon. Salmon I care about!!!

Salmon?

If I am going to give a damn about anything in the wild, I am going to give a damn about everthing in the wild. I have not ever been Salmon fishing, I may never get to. But, my kids might want to someday, or maybe my grandkids. Someday your offspring might be the most avid deer hunter in the woods. Ever think about that? We, as sportsmen need to try not to be so selfish. It is called an ecosystem and if one part of it fails then all of it is likely to. Lets get on the same page here.

Chance,

Your comment "I am sick and tired of all this liberal, tree hugger, passive, anti gun, anti human, anti freedom, communist propaganda" doesn't do much to get some people align people to work towards a common goal. People may either support or oppose hunting for various reasons. To call someone a communist simply because they don't agree with you or participate in an activity you enjoy with is nothing but inflammatory and counterproductive. I know many conservatives that don't care to hunt because they don't like the sight of blood. Many liberals hunt because they feel to is more humane when compared to how some domestic live stock is raised. Some conservatives are vegetarians. Some liberals eat only free range livestock because they feel it is more healthy.

In Alaska a conservative minded commercial fisherman may support oil drilling, but oppose clear-cut logging because of the effect it can have on salmon rearing habitat. How about horse loggers? They log in a manner that more environmental friendly and may oppose mechanical extraction. Does that make them an eco-terrorist? Or are they conservative because they support the forest products industry?

I am not going to get into an argument here. If you do not hunt, that is fine. I am not disagreeing with you. Just because you don't hunt does not mean that you are anit-hunting does it? I am not trying to force my views on anyone. Where do you get:

"To call someone a communist simply because they don't agree with you or participate in an activity you enjoy with is nothing but inflammatory and counterproductive. "

I never said that anyone who did not agree or participate was a communist. People who use "ecology, or envoironment" to push thier political agend are the ones I seriously disagree with. Some people choose to use humans soft heart as a way in, then when they develop that bond and support they use their power in a negative way, entirely unrelated to the environment. I am not alone, read "Wives and Guns" also on the OTHER board.

Isn't freedom of speech great!
