1988 Range rover classic( sold but miss it) had 250k miles, was a great project, taught me alot about working on cars and wiing, wish I could have kept it and done a 350/400/np205/203 60/14b combo and make it into a crawler. Bought it for 800. 00 running and drove it 250 miles with no speedo at 85mph following a freind home, can't beat that:D really regret selling it because it was such a POS already that it was a perfect project

I had a 1971 Land Rover, Aluminum Body, 4 Cylinder, 4X4 short wheel base. Busted a rear drive axle taking off from a light:--). Sold it right after the incident. Couldnt find parts for it ( mid 1970's). GregH

I had two at one time, a 73 series III short wheel base that I tore the engine up in and droped a Ford 302 in, and a 67 series II long wheel base. Loved both, but don't expect to get anywhere fast (and still be able to hear) in either without the aftermarket overdrive. Really drew onlookers when you crank started them in the supermarket parking lot. Don't miss either of them.

haven't owned one. Had to winch a couple off the rocks on the Miller Jeep trail once... 'bout as close as I ever got. Since then I think the CA parks dept started enforcing a no-rover policy on black diamond trails.

ya there are some rover owners who think they can go anywhere with a slightly modified rover, I've learned my limitations in them...

I was just stumbling along and I found a pretty cool rover site with lots of trip pictures. Turns out a couple of rovers tried a run on the dusey-ershim trail and have 3 pages of some pretty cool pictures of the trail. This one is a good test for anyone running 33's. It's a 2 to 3 day trail run with some great camping. Day 3 pictures show what happens when a well-intentioned rover meets up with a seasoned trail. I give these guys high marks for attitudes. You don't run this trail without spare drive shafts.
