Any More EZ Box Reports?

Wow - had to be away a few days, I come home and not one new post on the new Edge EZ box. Is there a party going on somewhere nobody told me about? Ever since I heard about this box, my mpg has dropped and my engine knocks going up hills if I step on it. Must be caused by the overly advanced factory timing which this box corrects... #ad


I have two serious questions:
#1 - Any more reports, including mpg, from ETH owners who do NOT have the 275 injectors and other upgrades, just this box?

#2 - Any more word on what features we might see in next year's new improved model? (there's got to be one on the drawing boards, right?) My budget most likely places my purchase in next year anyway...

I've had my EZ for 1 tank of fuel(just the box, the injectors are coming) and I've noticed about 1-1. 5 mpg increase with "normal" driving. The EZ did every thing that HVAC said it would do. The truck ran good before but now the sleeping giant has arose #ad
. Needless to say I am very satisfies with the product.

HC, there are only a handfull out there at this time. The first batch hit the streets only two weeks ago. We have not had even one EZ returned. These things are simple and they work #ad

HI HVAC.
HC, I seem to be getting about the same mileage with the EZ. I should go fill'er up before I post because it is about due and I could give you a more up to date report but it seems about the same. The EZ is the only mod at the present time. I seem to be averaging around 18. 5-19 MPG. This is a '01 HO 6 speed.

I second J Johnson. I got 1. 8 better towing and almost 2mpg better empty.
PS the only modification to my ETH is the EZ and supplied elbow.

I've had mine in for about three or four tankfulls, and so far mileage is unchanged, and perhaps very slightly lower.

Two tankfuls at 13. 4x mpg, and this last one was 13. 1x. I lost my notes on the fourth tank.

I sincerely hope my mileage improves after I get my USGear Overdrive installed (hopefully less than a month away), because my current mileage is really sucking compared to what I used to get on my '96...

hey 'B' could you comment on the performance of the EZ? lots of us in the wings here trying to decide...

I went to the EZ from a VA with 50% fueling and a PS boost module. My truck is an 01 ETC 5 speed.
The EZ is a little smoother at idle and the VA was smoother than stock.
The EZ has more power than the VA even at 100% fueling.
The EZ produces less smoke than a VA at 100%, however, my VA at 50% produces less smoke than the EZ. HVAC is helping me figure out how to change the setting on the EZ to delay the additional fuel. Once this is done I think it will be just right for me.
The EZ is so impressive I have no need for the injectors at this time.
I have had the DD stage 1's, the VA at 100% and 50%, and the DD and PS boost modules on my 98 and 01. I tried every combination I could get on my 98. The best was the VA at 50% and DD stage 1's and boost module. The EZ is equal to this if not better. The delay in fueling will make it better(less smoke).

Also, have to say thank you to HVAC. He answered all my e-mails and has been very helpful.

Just wanted to brief all on the addition of my new EZ. I did add the 275 injectors, i mean why not? it only added a few bucks to the package and what an imporvement! Put the gauges on first and got a baseline of egt. stock could only go to 950. after install of ez and injectors, 1250 was all shed go and i had to work to get it there. Went up 7% grade, slowed to 50 in 5th and romped it. only thing that went up of concern was the speedo and i mean it shot up! these goodies added 100 hp and 270 lb ft of torgue. what a rocket ship! mpg stayed at 21. checked it closely on 500 mile trip. I keep telling myself, restraint, restraint. Ya right.

My rig is not yet three weeks old... drove to Tulare and installed three days after I picked up the truck. . see sig. on truck. .

on install I have much better idle [read smother], Much better pick up off ldle thru the gears, no low fueling in upper RPM,difference between Ol'#1 and Ol'#2. . the timming shows up imediatly off idle v/s 1k+RPM to power [or turbo spool up]. . [note Ol'#1 was a 98. 5 early 24V that had total of three reflashes. . 5spd]

This upgrade is well worth your $$. . once I add my other pieces I expect this to have a major effect on the total package. .

The other day i raced my grandfather in hos 00 gmc 1/2t, he said no way that Dodge will run with him. Well it did, couldn't out run him thru a 1/4 but stayed side by side. That was with just the PE. Raced him again after adding the EZ and blew him away.

Hopefully this is the 1st post,
Bought my wife a 01,HO about 4 weeks ago and ran into HVAC via Adam.
Picked the BOX and Adam and I installed it in about 5 min. The wife works odd hours so we didn't get a response for a while. She told Adam and I that big increase in get up and go and the fuel mpg went about 1. 5 maybe 2. 0 she is impressed, Will see what she is going want next (HORSE POWER)

Before I hooked up my EZ I did some 5th gear 1500 to 3000rpm runs to establish a base line. I installed the EZ Box and cut 2. 5 sec from the base line. You signiture does not indicate the type of transmission you have, auto, 5 speed or ETH six speed.

HC... the one thing I will add to your EZ box question is that if you load your truck or pull a heavy trailer... Hold off Bombing additionsafter the box install. . When I added the 275's and a trailer (42,000lbs) my clutch slipped alittle #ad

I replaced my VA with an EZ just as I started a run from Ogden to Seattle. My immediate reaction was that it did not pull as hard between 1200 and 2000, but pulled much harder from 2K to 3K. After the trip I felt that the overall smoothness was better, the lag off the bottom was reduced (4" exhaust and TC) and I was eagerly awaiting the 275's that will be installed tomorrow.
Fuel mileage was down! On the trip south I registered 23. 3 at 1950rpm for 400 miles. The return trip over the same ground at the same speed netted 21. 9. Allow for a half gallon difference in fill levels, and there is still . 5 to 1 gal difference.
Now I need to update my sig. Anyone in the market for a VA and elbow?
