The engineer I talked to at the press launch said that the ONLY difference between the regular output engine and the HO was the programming in the ECM and that there would probably be an uprated ECM available for purchase later to bring it to the HO power spec. I specifically asked if there were any internal differences at all (ie, injectors, pistons, cooling nozzles, etc) and he said no, none at all. I grilled this guy for about an hour on very detailed questions and he knew stuff like the pressure the rail runs at, the type of turbo on the truck, manufacturer of the lift pump, etc. I was talking to the #3 person (VP) at Cummins and she grabbed him because she said he could answer all my questions.
