I am not sure I understand your question but I tow a 14 K 5th wheel with a PDR 40 and can run 36 lbs of boost at 1300 degrees. The hot weather will kill the performance a bit as I found out in Arizona a few weeks ago.

Is this 10 to 15 lbs of boost at 1100 degrees on flat ground?

Hey Bill, good to see you back on the boards :) We gotta get together pretty soon and hoist a cold one or two ;)

Blair, I'm going to guess that Bill means he had to keep his foot out of the throttle a bit, or he fears he would have been well past 1100* on the EGTs. So he was only seeing 10 - 15 PSI of boost.

Bill, I think a PDR HX40 would be a great choice for you. My bone stock HX40 works fairly well, but when I tow, I get a bit close to being too hot for my liking also.

If you can swing it ...

... Piers PDR HX40 is very good for towing.

Just last week I had 8000+ lbs of wet clay/sand mix (used for some new horseshoe pits) in my dump trailer (@ 2250 lbs) and was pulling some 30 miles up hills, back roads, and a highway and the temps never got over 1100. The PDR HX40 really knocks down the temps when it gets going ... but it is a pricy option, but in my opinion well worth it.

Plus, my neighbor, who rode along with me and who's cement pit we got the clay/sand from; said the truck sounded like the Macks they have at the pit, pulling a load:D

We almost had to shout to each other in the cab to be heard going up some steep hills.

flat ground

i ran 10 psi flat ground tried to keep at 1100 deg or less

so as tom said i had to stay way out of it\pulled bass lake grade at 45 mph to keep temps 1100 deg and stay at only 10 psi

my temp gauge went to double of normal out side temp

was hot at 100 deg pulling 6500 ;bs

so because of egt's cant pull any better then stock fueling

tom g call me ill be home saturday and sunday

you can drop by if u can

I need help in the egt department bad. Thought the HX 40 was going to solve all my problems. Not so. Just 2 days ago I was again towing a load of 7,000 lbs and could not get over 50 MPH on any hill (7-8%) in OD or 3rd. Maybe 15-20 lbs boost. Could to faster with a stock truck at lower egt's I am sure. I am going to probably slide back my # 10 a little and install a valet switch, but other than that I am stumped.

Truck smokes like a freight train, and feathering the fuel and watching the pyro while I loose speed and boost trying to keep egt's under 1200 is a little irritating when all I hear is others towing like mad 40 lbs of boost, up mountains at max GVW and never hit 1100. I do not think I am overfueled for this turbo but it sure seems that way. I do have someone who is going to look at my old goat near the end of September to see what is wrong.

The PDR40 works great for towing. It keeps my EGT's in check (box off)

It almost works too well. With DD3's, and a timing box on my ETH, EGT's peak at about 1250. However, when using that much power... . ~369 HP, you really have to watch coolant temps. I gross just over 19K when pulling Dad's front end loader, and after a 5 mile 3rd gear uphill pull, the rear tures were a bit on the sticky side.
