WELL I THOUGHT I WAS DOING MYSELF A FAVOR BY ORDERING MY TRUCK WITHOUT THE TOWING PACKAGE. WELL SINCE BUYING MY TRUCK THE WIFE AND I HAVE PURCHASED A TRAVEL TRAILER. THE HITCH WONT BE A PROBLEM BUT NOW I'M GONNA NEED BRAKE CONTROLLER... ANY OF YOU GUYS THAT HAVE INSTALLED YOUR OWN CONTROLLER KNOW IF THERE IS A PIGTAIL ASSEMBLY FROM THE DEALER FOR WIRING FROM THE EXISTING WIRING TO THE BUMPER?... . THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE! I KNOW NEXT TIME JUST ORDER THE TOW PACKAGE

If you get Tekonsha, they have the harness. I imagine the other manufacturers do as well. You should be able to get the part from Mopar, too.

I am pretty sure that if you did not order the tow package that you DO NOT get the wiring harness under the dash that provides power and brake pedal signal, my grandfather's truck did not have the towing package and no connector either howevver my uncles 03 of course does with the towing package, I would never order a truck without the package just for this reason it makes things a lot easier to deal with.

I hope you are good at wiring, if not you might consult one of the RV "how-to" books. It's pretty involved adding a brake controller and a seven pin plug. You might be able to get the RV dealer to make you a deal on adding the wiring since you are buying a trailer from him.

My truck did'nt have the tow package went I got it, but the wiring for the controller was under the dash like all of the new ones. dodge has a wiring harness that run from the front to the back and has the 7 pin plug. Dave smith put mine on it only took them about an hour to put the hitch and wirer it. Don't know any part numbers. It is all available from the dealer.

I installed my own brake controller, and it's real simple if you have the female factory plug. Do you have that plug up under the dash? It's a blue connector located on top of a large wiring harness under the dash in the vicinity of the emergency brake pedal. Also, do you have the plug on the back of your truck to the left of the license plate? If you don't have these, I'd highly recommend you get a pro to install it for you... as several others have already said.

YES THE BRAKE CONTROLLER MODULE UNDER THE DASH IS THERE I JUST FOUND TODAY THAT MOPAR DOES MAKE AN ORIGINAL WIREING HARNESS TO CONNECT THAT WILL ELIMINATE THE 4 PIN STANDARD PLUG AND REPLACE IT WITH THE SEVEN PIN PLUG NEEDED FOR MY SITUATION... THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOUR REPONSES... I JUST LEARNED A LESSON HERE IN WHERE NOT TO BE CHEAP... THANKS AGAIN!
