I'm looking to get a transmission moved from Virginia to northern Indiana... any one ever had some thing like that shipped? I'm not sure where to start or what some thing like that would cost...

I shipped a t45 through UPS we just put a label on it no box at all much lighter than one from our trucks I don't remember the cost. You are in Indiana lot of trailers moved from there all over the country maybe some one could bring it back with them for a good price Im not sure how to check on that ... George

No big deal. Drain it completely, get a HD garbage bad or some sheet plastic to wrap it up(optional) and metal band it to a pallet. If you don't have access to the metal banding stuff take the pallet and transmission and go to a tractor or equipment dealer and see the parts mgr. See them late in the afternoon. A cold 6 pack in a brown paper bag at the end of the day is a good bribe as the materials and time is minimal. They may also be able to ship it for you or go to the nearest trucking terminal.

when I had my transmission shipped the guy put it on one of those small pallets & used some heater hanger strap (from HD or Lowes, or ACE), & use some drywall screws & screw it down solid to the pallet. he even took some cardboard & staple gunned it to the pallet to make it look like a box & to cover the trans. looked *****en & worked great.

Your looking at about $200 from a terminal to a terminal. As far as picking one up at someones house add about $100. I looked into getting a rearend shipped from tulsa. Was gonna be $250 from freight dock to freight dock. Ended up just driving down there and picking it up. Just got back friday night.

Unless it is a really special trans I think your gonna have more in it than it is worth. Typically used stock trannies on our trucks aren't worth more than $500-600.

Old Dominion will ship, and I think I looked at R&L carriers.
