LuK has been the original equipment supplier for the Cummins 5. 9L since the introduction of the Ram in 1994. They have supplied two 5 speed systems and the 6 speed NV5600 and the 6 speed G56 equipped with the LuK Dual Mass Flywheel. They also offer a Pro Gold series of upgrade clutches. I do not have any torque capacity figures for their products.

LuK

I couldn't find it right away, but I thought some might like to know what the name is:

LuK comes from: Lamellen und Kupplungsbau, its German. It refers to clutches, but I don't remember which pieces exactly, correctly typed as LuK, today's clutch trivia.

I've had my LUK Cerametallic for over 40K miles so far - primarily used in RV towing. Absolutely no problems, and as I recall, it was claimed to hold well over 600 HP and 1000 Tq at the time I bought it. It was about 1/3 less cost than competing clutches at the time I bought mine, and I've never had reason to regret my choice. My power rating can be seen in my sig.

It is a very positive engagement clutch, as most of this type are, but not excessively, and decent to control. If heavy use and excellent holding power is needed, this will work well - if a street-only clutch is needed, something smoother and less aggressive might be better - Gary Croyle's company has excellent selections to choose from, as well as the SBC outfit.

i abused one for over 50,000 miles, in fact the disc lasted two pressure plates, with over 500 h. p. and 37 inch tires, heavy off road and towing with no problems except it did not like sled pulling or drag racing, awesome for trailer towing..... pro gold ceramic
