Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) any problems with htt stainless 13cm turbo

I was looking for a new turbo to replace my hx40 w/ 22cm housing. I was leaning towards the htt 62/13/65 stainless. However I have read a few things about the lag and bad waste gate design. Is any one runnig this turbo. If so have you had any problems or is it a good turbo.



Any other suggestions for a turbo for this set up that woud be better: ATS exhaust manifold, diesel dynamics stage II injectors, fuel plat (don't know wich one), afm cold air intake, 9200# curb weight w/o trailer would like to tow up to 14K trailer, timming at 16. 5

I really like mine - seems to spool about like stock and keeps things cool when towing.

I like mine too, almost like stock and keeps things much cooler.

the wastegate arm and pucks have a design flaw. often times the gate won't seal correctly. I would just stick with a cast iron housing untill they get everything sorted out

Had one, made one trip towing toy hauler (20,000lbs gross), got home, got rid of it.

Surged at any throttle setting while pulling, barked at almost every shift, ran hot

What fuel mods do you have

My sig says most of it. I also have a #10 plate, lift pressure at 40psi, pump puts out a little more, and a 3k gov kit.



I think the biggest problem with that turbo is the 13 housing. The pinwheel is not conducive to high flowing engines.

Hdn48 how does the 14 cool compared to the 13 . Is it a 62/14/65. I was afraid it would be too laggy with a 14

Well, even before I ported it, it spooled just fine. The difference between a 13 and a 14 are very minor except for the 14 runs much cooler.
