Guys do I have to worry about any problems with have left my truck idling for 1 hour 30 minutes at about 25 degrees outside? I pulled a Chevy out yesterday and when I got out of the truck to get the tow strap I hit the door lock and locked myself out till the wife came by to unlock me.

Doesn't run any different and I tried keeping it revved up on the way home. just wondering if I need to concern myself with anything since it idled for so long.

Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you are not letting it idle under those conditions over and over again, I don't think there will be a problem. :)

To be on the safe side, if it happens again, gradually run the crap out of it before you shut her down. There are instructions in the owners manual for extended idling ... something about running at certain RPM's for certain number of minutes... 3 minutes at 3000rpm (Cummins "HIGH" idle)

I would not worry. I see guys parked in rest areas all the time (me included) letting them run all night either for heat or A/C. I guess its just a risk we take to be comfortable.

Extended idle time

I have seen this happen in snow storms. Left Brooklyn, NY for a normally 1 hour trip home to Suffolk County on the L. I. E. except it was in a snow storm, total trip time to go 46 miles was 7 hours ! There is no way anyone could avoid extended idling under these conditions! Diesels can take this abuse if they have to. Just a thought!

Thanks Guys, if for nothing else making me feel a little better about my mistake. For Joe911 I am planning on getting something or atleast getting one for the wallet. I normally don't idle much more than 5-10 minutes on cold mornings waiting for me to tie up the boots and fill the coffee mug.

Thanks again easing the mind or what's left of it. :D
