I'm running a pusher pump kit from Enterprise Engine Performance and thus far I have ~25,000 miles on mine with no problems. Previously the most I got out of any lift pump was 16,000 (92,000 miles total on the truck).

Yep 19 psi at idle or driving down the road and drops to 18 psi at WOT - that's once the fuels warmed up. Now that it's gotten cold here fuel pressure is 16 psi when the truck is first started in the cold, once the fuel is warmed up then it's back up to 19 and 18.

Steve,

Does the kit from Enterprize Engine Performance come with all of the parts and pieces needed. Or do you need to make up some parts to tie everything together.

Interested in the setup.

How close is the kit to being a "Bolt-on" setup ?

What's the Price range. ?

Thanks for any info.

I'd like to get one of these,, soon. My Fuel Pressure gauge looks like it is on a swing,, from 14PSI idle, to ~4-5PSI WOT

TIA,

The only things the Enterprise kit doesn't come with is the wire to run from the relay under the hood to the pump itself - you can pick that up anywhere. I also used a piece of bicycle inner tube (had one lying around with holes in it) to isolate the L bracket from the frame for vibration noise - that's not absolutely necessary though. In my case the pump wasn't quite tight in the grommets on the bracket so I added a washer on each of the mounts to tighten it up - none of the above was any big deal - I had all of the above on hand. Lastly I also added a 2nd hose clamp on the hose connections to the fuel line for an added measure of safety. You could get by without any of the above except for the wire, I'm just a little picky about my installations :D .

I believe they're charging around $150 for their kit which include the pump, the relay, and the hose and two hose clamps to attach the pump to the lines. You will need a pipe cutter to cut the fuel hard line. If you look in issue #34 on page 47 I did a pretty detailed installation article on it.

Gonna dig out the TDR mag.

I'm lookin' forward to doing a Fuel Pressure Gauge Like BigSaints MIL External F. P. gauge istall.

Thanks Steve !!!

Smokin Diesel

I installed Smokin Diesels Fuel kit. This kit included 2 pumps, SS fuel line from the pusher pump to the VP44, all wiring including relay, connectors, wire and I have a consistant 22 psi :D . This is a high quality kit and vendor to work with. Sam

wow , i'm still under powered i guess with only 5 psi at WOT and 410 plus to the ground ...

i see presures that are to high , but that me ...

this should put me in my place , one of you guys with over 15 psi all the time , setup your pump so it runs all the time and run your overflow line off the VP44 into a bucket with the factory overflow valve in place , truck not running , pump on , is there fuel coming out ??? if so i'll keep my comments to myself and install a pusher pump on my truck ...

I have to agree with Mopar (John) . If the pusher pump set up helps keep the two pumps happy, all the power to ya. Those high psi's give me a concern over a seal faliure in the VP44. Maybe my concern isn't justified, but it's still a concern for me. Then again, I'm still kinda new at this and willing to learn. I'll wager it's safe to say that my truck is moderately fueled and I see 5-6 psi's post filter on WOT runs for a instant, then it's a stable 8-10 psi's with the single Mallory. Seems to be more than enough for me ??? Will my second Mallory last ???? Only time will tell but if it fails I'm going to try running a Aeromotive pump back by the tank with a return regulator.

The one thing I will say about the pusher set up is that it appears to help the stock Carter last, if no one has a failure within the next year while using the pusher pump set up, I'll certainly re-think the situation.

MC... . made me laugh when you mentioned the MIL mount, forgot I called it that :D . You might want to consider a different Autometer than mine (0-15 psi) if you go with the pusher pump set up, I don't recall what the psi's are for my gauge for failure, but I think 18 maybe pushing the gauge to the limit.

I know of at least one failure of the pusher pump set up(he's a member he can tell the story if he wants to, no name from me sorry) His lift pump went because the pusher pump failed(twice I think, not sure, I know of one), putting too much strain on the front one. Particules in the fuel were found to be the culprits of the failure. He know runs a single mallory by the tank without problem(with a pre-filter). This was confirmed by a third person.

I'm sure they are dozens of two pumps systems out there working as advertised, good, more choices for us. I'm not trying to start ANYTHING, just reporting what I know. As for myself one good pump, with an inline pre-filter, by the tank will do.

My 2c,

Glenn

:D

Edit: It was not a JRE system but he was using the same Carter pumps

I forgot to mention I installed a screen filter prior to my pusher pump. Only time will tell if any debris takes out a pump. Sam

Sam, I'm not sure which screen pre-filter you are using, but I found a fair amount of crud in my Earl's filter when I took it out for a cleaning at 5,000 miles. When I changed the OEM fuel filter at 7,000 miles, it was spotless. Guess it's doing the job.

Thanks for the info :) . I am using the same Earls screen filter. Sam

Earl's filter

Where did you get your Earl's filter I am getting ready to put on the pusher pump and I need to put the filter on first. Thanks Joe

How difficult is it to cut the fuel line back by the tank? I am thinking of relocating my lift pump. Can you get a pre filter at Napa? This may be a dumb question, but is there any way to keep the fuel in the tank while cutting the line, or do you just try to get it as empty as possible?

Thanks,

Dan

I just used a pipe cutter to cut the line and then a chamfer tool to take any burr off, it was very easy. As far as keeping the fuel in the tank I ran the tank down to about a 1/4 tank and after I cut the line I lifted it up so the end of the line was above the fuel level and the fuel drained back into the tank, you will spill some fuel out while you're cutting the line though.
