Hey Dave, didn't you see mine installed at the Timberline Dodge event in July? I REALLY like my Hitco/Geno's Garage exhaust blanket! I think it is well worth the money. It does dampen engine noise... that was the very first thing I noticed about it, and I didn't really purchase the blanket for that feature. #ad
If I had it to do all over again, I'd purchase one in a heartbeat! #ad

Dave, I luv my blanket, it does reduce noise, I get fast spool up by 50 RPMs or so and It allows me to stay in the throttle longer before the EGT are too high. #ad

I wish I would have got it sooner!!!

I love my blanket too. I run a Scotty Air system. The blanket keeps the underhood temps down. The outside of the filter feels cool. Had the blanket off for a few days. Outside of filter was hot.

Dave, RUN don't walk to the phone with plastic money in hand to call Geno's. I have had mine on since Xmas. I too felt a "seat of the pants" effect on turbo boost. This makes sense. I have posted before, our new 87' Coast Guard cutters have a German made Diesel that the designers have isolated the exhaust manafold from the rest of the engine to capture as much HEAT as possible and get it to the turbo. The factory tech said that it is the heat that spins the turbo, heat=energy sooooo the more heat you can get to your turbo the more efficient your truck will run. It looks good too! Happy Rammin, Dave

I installed one to lower the under-hood temperatures. Installation is just as easy as everyone claims - done in a few minutes. I could not detect a decrease in cab noise, but I have a Pyschotty Air which increases the noise so that may have "bypassed" the potential noise reduction. I did NOT see the increased cool-down times that some folks reported on in an earlier thread. The only potential "con" is that I have seen one post claiming potential problems with cracked manifolds due to retaining too much heat. I suspect this occurred in BOMB'ed or highly BOMB'ed vehicles that were creating a lot more than stock heat. If true, the manifold could have / probably would have cracked anyway in a small percentage of the vehicles, with or without a blanket.
Bottom Line: If you want to get lower underhood temps - get one. The other benefits may be there, but are difficult to prove. I like mine; I'm keeping it.

Ditto to HC's comment. Can't really tell a performance increase. But I feel it helps the Scotty air cleaner. Besides it covers that ugly rusty manifold. Just Do It.

I had one on my 98 and liked it, I didn't notice a noise decrease but it was cooler under the hood which is why I bought it. Its on the wish list for the new truck when my toy card gets paid off from the last round of goodies #ad
